Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is a type of tax levied on the profit obtained from the sale or disposal of an asset, which has increased in value. This profit, termed as 'capital gain', constitutes the difference between the price at which the asset was purchased and the price at which it was sold. The main types of assets subject to CGT include real estate properties, stocks, precious metals, bonds, and artwork.
