Carlos Alvarado

Carlos Alvarado is a prominent Costa Rican politician, author and journalist who served as the 48th President of Costa Rica from 2018 to 2022. Born on January 14, 1980, Alvarado is a member of the Citizens' Action Party and holds a master's degree in development studies from the University of Sussex. Prior to his presidency, Alvarado held various positions in Costa Rica's government, including Minister of Human Development and Social Inclusion and Minister of Labor and Social Security, showcasing his extensive experience in public service. Apart from politics, Alvarado has written award-winning novels, further establishing his influential footprint in Costa Rica's societal and cultural fabric.
