Buffy Jo Christina Wicks is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Assembly, representing the 14th Assembly District. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been in office since 2018. Her district includes the cities of Berkeley, Piedmont, Richmond, San Pablo, and El Cerrito in the East Bay. Wicks earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Washington. She has a rich background in political strategy and advocacy, having served as Founder and Principal at Rise Strategies, LLC, Vice President at AKPD Message and Media, LLC, and Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. Her career also includes roles as a grassroots organizer for Planned Parenthood and the Howard Dean Campaign, and work at the White House Office of Public Engagement.
