Brian J. Mast is an American politician and military veteran who currently serves as a United States Representative from Florida's 18th congressional district. Before launching his political career, Mast served as a bomb disposal expert in the U.S. Army. While deployed in Afghanistan, he tragically lost both legs to an IED explosion, an event which earned him numerous commendations including the Purple Heart. As a congressman, he has been known for his advocacy for veterans' rights, environmental conservation, and tighter regulations on firearms. He is a member of the Republican party.
