Piedmont City Council
California
Betsy Smegal-Andersen is a dedicated public servant and attorney who has been actively involved in local government and community affairs in Piedmont, California. Betsy was appointed to the Piedmont City Council in October 2017 to fill a vacant seat. She was elected to her first term in November 2018 and re-elected for a second term in 2022. Before joining the city council, she served on the Public Safety Committee and was the chair of the Recreation Commission. Her involvement in local government was partly motivated by the desire to improve community facilities, such as the Piedmont Pool, and to contribute to a majority female city council.
