Bar Council of India

The Bar Council of India is a statutory body established under the Advocates Act 1961, which regulates and represents the Indian bar, maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct and integrity. Its primary responsibilities include laying down guidelines for legal education, determining standards of professional conduct, providing legal aid to those who need it, creating law libraries, and promoting legal education across the country. In addition to setting standards for legal practice in India, the Council also protects the rights, privileges, and interests of advocates and has the authority to take disciplinary action against those who violate these standards.
