Asamblea Legislativa de Costa Rica

The Asamblea Legislativa de Costa Rica is the legislative body of the Republic of Costa Rica. This unicameral body comprises of 57 deputies, elected via direct, universal suffrage for four-year terms. As decried by the country's constitution, the assembly is responsible for the passage of new laws as well as amendments to existing ones, and to supervise other branches of the government. Its key roles also include fiscalization duties and approval of public spending budgets. The Asamblea Legislativa de Costa Rica not only represents Costa Rican citizens, but also serves as a main pillar of the nation's democratic governance.
