Arunan Arulampalam is the current mayor of Hartford, Connecticut, having taken office on January 1, 2024. Born on September 15, 1985, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to Sri Lankan refugees, he moved to the United States at a young age. Arulampalam graduated from Emory University and earned his Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law. His career began in law, working as an associate at Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, and later as a deputy commissioner in the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. He served as CEO of the Hartford Land Bank prior to his mayoral campaign.
