Andrés Arauz is a prominent Ecuadorian political figure and economist who was a presidential candidate in the 2021 general elections. Born in 1985, Arauz is a member of the Union for Hope Coalition (UNES), serving previously as the Minister of Knowledge and Human Talent under former President Rafael Correa from 2015 to 2017. Arauz holds a PhD in Financial Economics and Development from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and is known for his progressive economic policies and his commitment to social justice.
