Alexa Avilés is a dedicated public servant and community leader with a strong background in sociology, history, and public administration. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Latin American History from Columbia University, followed by a Master's degree in Public Administration/Non-Profit Management from Baruch College. Avilés has held various influential roles throughout her career, including serving as a Program Officer at the Scherman Foundation and the Fund of the Four Directions. She has also been a Program Manager and Senior Program Associate focused on juvenile justice at the JEHT Foundation. Currently, Avilés is the Councilmember for District 38 in New York City, where she continues to advocate for social justice and community empowerment.
