Mayor Arreguin and Berkeley City Councilmembers, we urgently demand you stand up for tenants and vote YES to TOPA NOW!

We have been waiting for too long, now is the time to act and pass TOPA in Berkeley.

As a community, we demand you stand up for tenants and vote YES! to the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA). The proposed law will give tenants a chance to buy their rental property and continue living there when the owner decides to sell. It also provides the resources to work with a nonprofit to help purchase the property.  

TOPA will help keep our close-knit and diverse communities together, as all of Berkeley and especially Berkeleyans of color, face ever-growing displacement pressures.
