🦖 Save Our Dinosaur! Help Us Keep Tyra, the World's Largest Dinosaur, in one piece and in Drumheller 🦖

We’re a new Drumheller family who fell in love with this incredible town — the scenery, the spirit, and the people. Like so many others, we were drawn here by Dinosaurs and not just the old ones, The Biggest One! the World’s Largest Dinosaur — affectionately known as Tyra — a towering symbol of adventure, discovery, and the heart of our tourism economy.

Now, we’ve learned that this iconic attraction is set to be decommissioned in 2029, when the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce plans to vacate the gift shop and visitor information center. The lease will expire, and Tyra could be gone — with no public consultation so far.

We deeply respect the Chamber's decision to refocus on their core mandate, but we passionately believe Tyra's story doesn't need to end here. With collaboration, creativity, and community support, we can ensure she remains standing tall and welcoming visitors for generations to come. We believe there is still time and opportunity to work together — to find sustainable, community-driven solutions that preserve this beloved landmark.

TYRA NEEDS US! If Tyra requires upgrades or ongoing maintenance, let's openly discuss solutions. If it's about funding, thingstodoindrumheller.ca would be thrilled to organize events and fundraisers to help. Perhaps another community-led organization can step forward to manage her. Let's explore these possibilities together.

We’re beginning conversations with the Town to learn more about the lease and future plans, Tyra is one of everyone's favorite things to do in Drumheller and we would like her to stay home and in one piece so she can continue to bring joy to children, families and tourists and if we work together maybe this asteroid doesn't hit her.
