Ensure Fair Water Rates for the Village of Westbury, VT

The Issue

Water is not a luxury; it's a necessity. For the residents of Westbury Village, this isn't just a statement; it's a lived reality. We believe that access to safe clean drinking water should be equitable for all municipalities within the Champlain Water District. But currently, our village is paying more than what seems fair.

In Westbury Village, we're burdened by an unequal system, where we are not only responsible for repairs to our own water system, but also need to contribute to repairs to another Champlain Water District system we are not connected to. Instead of focusing our resources on maintaining our own infrastructure, we are obligated to subsidize other's maintenance needs.

This is alarmingly against the principles of equity. It singles us out, making us pay not just for what we use, but also for repairs to a system we are not connected to. This petition is to gather support for Westbury Village's request to the Champlain Water District for fair wholesale water rates. Everyone's right to equitable access to water should be protected.

We are asking the Champlain Water District to reassess our village's contribution and ensure that we're paying for what we use, not for what others use. Your signature can make a vital difference and bring about the justice the residents of Westbury Village deserve. Please sign our petition.
