Reconsider border restrictions for vaccinated Victorians

Reconsider border restrictions for vaccinated Victorians
The issue
Dear Premier Andrews, Minister Foley and Dr Sutton,
Many Victorians currently travelling interstate, and in extreme risk zones, are unable to return to their homes due to border restrictions. National Cabinet has been reported as considering what benefits could accrue to those in the community who are fully vaccinated. We, the undersigned, would like to suggest that improved ability to cross interstate borders should be one such benefit.
We respect the need for tight border controls to protect Victorians, but ask that a process be included to allow fully vaccinated Victorians to return home from extreme risk zones. We propose that they be allowed entry to Victoria providing:
1. They do not travel until at least two weeks after receiving their second COVID-19 vaccination (or whatever waiting period is determined appropriate by the Victorian CHO).
2. They immediately return to their home and quarantine for 14 days, regardless of any negative test result.
3. They take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving, and again on Day 13 of their quarantine period.
In this way, vaccinated Victorians will have a pathway to return home rather than the uncertainty of continued exile from their family, friends and home.
By signing this petition, we agree that these provisions are acceptable to us.
Confirmed victory
