In the MeToo Movement, celebrities lent their voices to stop sexual assault in Hollywood. In Hip Hop, nearly all of our celebrities went silent after multiple men accused hip hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa of child sexual abuse. Russell Simmons was also accused by multiple women of assault, Charlemagne tha God was accused by Jessica Reid and even bragged about drugging a woman before having sex with her. Crazy Legs was accused by multiple female dancers of sexual harassment.
Yet, all of these have been able to reinvent themselves in the media and continue to enjoy financial gain and celebrity status while their alleged victims have suffered from emotional and physical trauma.
We cannot accept this.
We heard the survivors. We believe the survivors.
And, while the celebrities have been quiet, this did not stop the people.
After the law changed in New York, one man filed a civil lawsuit that says Afrika Bambaataa also trafficked him beginning at 12 years old. There are at least 15 other men ready to testify and offer their own stories of abuse by Bambaataa.
The Universal Zulu Nation is a defendant in the case.
Neither Bambaataa nor the Zulu Nation has responded to the 17-month-long case.
Now, Rocky Bucano and the Universal Hip Hop Museum are promoting Afrika Bambaataa and his organization, the Universal Zulu Nation. Bambaataa's alleged enablers are also a part of the museum's activities while it denies any affiliation.
How can a public institution highlight, promote, hire, and display an organization that is a defendant in a child sex trafficking lawsuit? All while bragging about the children's programs they offer? The museum, under Rocky Bucano's leadership, has children exposed to Bambaataa's alleged enablers and we believe they are signaling pedos to come to there.
We do not believe our kids are not safe at the Universal Hip Hop Museum.
READ SPECIAL REPORT ON ROCKY BUCANO AND THE MUSEUM.
Where are the criminal charges against Bambaataa? It sometimes takes decades for survivors to come forward, long after statutes of limitations have expired.
WE BELIEVE THE SURVIVORS.
ROCKY BUCANO MUST RESIGN AND THE ZULU NATION MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE UNIVERSAL HIP HOP MUSEUM.
