Union nurses at LVN-Schuylkill are demanding safer working conditions, including better nurse-to-patient ratios. In response, management has tried to destroy their union, banning nurses from wearing union stickers and giving non-union employees exclusive bonuses, paid time off, gym benefits, and even paying adoption fees should a non-union nurse want to get a dog!

We, residents of Schuylkill and surrounding counties, demand better from Lehigh Valley Health Network. We demand that LVHN negotiate in good faith with the OPEIU nurses at Pottsville Hospital, that patient-to-nurse ratios be lowered to match national standards, and that employment conditions be improved to keep experienced nurses in our region. We ask that LVHN view the nurses' union as allies in patient health, rather than enemies, and that all anti-union activity carried out by LVHN cease. We specifically request that LVHN sever all ties to its union-busting lawyer (or "union avoidance," as he calls it), Edward Easterly.

To be clear, this petition has been drafted by members of the community, and does not speak for the OPEIU union, nurses, nor any employees of LVHN.
