Urge detener estas prácticas del abuso y maltrato a los equinos.
Vivimos en el siglo 21 donde estas prácticas ya no son aceptables.

El maltrato, abuso y explotación de los caballos en Yucatán es una preocupación seria y válida que debe ser abordada con urgencia. Los caballos utilizados en calesas, trucks, (estas dos últimas en las que los caballos jalan hasta 7 u 8 personas), en carretas de tierreros o carretoneros, corridas de toros, y torneos de lazo  a menudo enfrentan condiciones de trabajo extremas, de maltrato. físico, abuso y algunas veces terminan en la muerte de los equinos.

Las Calesas son tradición en Yucatán pero cada vez son más los caballos explotados que se desvanecen trabajando y mueren o aquellos que mueren por una corneada de toro lastimados cruelmente y que también son víctimas de lo que las personas creen que es diversión, cultura y arte.

Urge un cambio en la forma de mover al turista, dejando atrás las calesas y truks tiradas por caballos y sustituyéndolas por calesas eléctricas o de gasolina . Reconocemos la importancia de esta fuente de ingreso para los caleseros y sus familias, y no se pretende dejarlos sin trabajo, solamente hacer un cambio que beneficie tanto a los caballos cómo a los caleseros, cambio que se comenzó a realizar  hace años y que por negligencia o apatía del gobierno anterior, no se han querido cambiar.

Hoy en Junio ​​2024 el caso de las calesas es de  prioridad y urgencia. Los caballos son sometidos a largas horas de trabajo sin descanso adecuado y expuestos a cada vez más a extremas condiciones climáticas sobre todo en Yucatán; obligados, además, a llevar o arrastrar cargas muy pesadas y ponerles unos frenos de metal que cortan y dividen su lengua lo que hace que esto sea más cruel y que afecta su salud y bienestar. Estos frenos se llama bocado, freno o embocadura  que se introduce en la boca del caballo para dirigirlo. Es por lo general de hierro y/o acero. 

Sumando a todo esto, los caballos son sometidos a golpes y maltratos por parte de los cocheros para controlar su comportamiento y continuar trabajando a pesar de que ya no puedan caminar pues se desvanecen muchas veces y son obligados a terminar sus jornadas, sin contar las condiciones alimenticias, veterinaria, prevención y cuidado de estos seres equinos.

Otro acto cruel contra los caballos sucede en las  corridas de toros , donde son utilizados para transportar a los toreros y para embestir al toro durante el espectáculo, sin embargo, los caballos son quienes sufren heridas graves debido a los golpes y embestidas , lo que resulta. en lesiones que afectan la vida del equino, afectado también su estado emocional y la muerte en la mayoría de los casos también en los torneos de lazo, donde los caballos son utilizados para perseguir y capturar un animal indefenso con una cuerda. Esta actividad puede causar lesiones graves en los caballos, como cortes, torceduras y muerte.

Ante todo esto, exigimos al gobierno de Yucatán que los caballos sean retirados de todas estas prácticas de abuso, explotación y maltrato . Exigimos que esos caballos sean jubilados con respeto y no enviados al rastro municipal para ser sacrificados, que sean reubicados en santuarios o con personas que les den una vida digna y de respeto cómo ellos se merecen. Pedimos a la par incluir regulaciones más estrictas, inspecciones regulares y sanciones más severas para aquellos que maltraten a los equinos (caballos) fomentar la educación y conciencia sobre el bienestar animal puede ayudar a cambiar las actitudes y prácticas en la sociedad.

¡En México varios estados de la República han suspendido el uso de equinos para estas prácticas! Es fundamental reconocer que los animales merecen un trato digno y respetuoso, y tomar medidas para garantizar su bienestar en todas las actividades en las que participan.

The mistreatment, abuse and exploitation of horses in Yucatán is a serious and valid concern that must be urgently addressed. Horses used in buggies, trucks, (these last two in which the horses pull up to 7 or 8 people), in tierreros or carretoneros carts, bullfights, and lasso tournaments often face extreme working conditions and abuse. . physical, abuse and sometimes end in the death of horses.

Calesas are a tradition in Yucatán but there are more and more exploited horses that disappear while working, or those that die from a goring of a cruelly injured bull and that are also victims of what people believe is fun, culture and art.

A change is urgently needed in the way tourists are moved, leaving horse-drawn buggies and trucks behind and replacing them with electric or gasoline-powered buggies. We recognize the importance of this source of income for the horsemen and their families, and we do not intend to leave them without work, only to make a change that benefits both the horses and the horsemen, a change that began to be made and that due to negligence or apathy of previous government, they have not wanted to change.

Today, in June 2024, the case of the buggies is of priority and urgency. Horses are subjected to long hours of work without adequate rest and exposed to increasingly extreme weather conditions, especially in Yucatán; They are also forced to carry or drag very heavy loads and put metal braces on them that cut and divide their tongue, which makes this more cruel and affects their health and well-being. These brakes are called a bit, brake or embouchure, the part of the bridle that is introduced into the horse's mouth to direct it. It is usually made of iron and/or steel. 

Adding to all this, the horses are subjected to beatings and mistreatment by the coachmen to control their behavior and continue working even though they can no longer walk because they often faint and are forced to finish their days, regardless of the conditions. . of food, veterinary, prevention and care of these equine beings.

Another cruel act against horses happens in bullfights, where they are used to transport the bullfighters and to attack the bull during the show, however, the horses are the ones who suffer serious injuries due to the blows and attacks, which results . in injuries that affect the life of the horse, also affecting its emotional state and death in many cases. Or in roping tournaments, where horses are used to chase and capture a defenseless animal with a rope. This activity can cause serious injuries to horses, including cuts, sprains, and death.

Given all this, we demand that the Yucatan government remove the horses from all these practices of abuse, exploitation and mistreatment. We demand that these horses be retired with respect and not sent to the municipal slaughterhouse to be sacrificed, that they be relocated to sanctuaries or with people who give them a life of dignity and respect as they deserve. We also ask that including stricter regulations, regular inspections and harsher penalties for those who mistreat equines (horses), promoting education and awareness about animal welfare can help change attitudes and practices in society.

In Mexico, several states of the Republic have suspended the use of horses for these practices! It is essential to recognize that animals deserve dignified and respectful treatment, and take measures to ensure their well-being in all the activities in which they participate.
