Justice for Geraldine Dunlop: Overturn a 2001 Conviction Built on Lies and Corruption

Justice for Geraldine Dunlop: Overturn a 2001 Conviction Built on Lies and Corruption
The Issue
Justice for Geraldine Dunlop: A 23-Year Injustice Built on Lies
I was a victim of domestic abuse who was framed for a crime I did not commit. For 23 years, I have lived with a conviction built on corruption, ignored evidence, and systemic failure. I am calling on the CCRC and Gwent Police to reopen my file and clear my name.
In 2001, in Newport, Wales, the system failed me and my children in the most devastating way possible. I was pressured into a guilty plea for "over-chastising" my child—despite overwhelming evidence of my innocence.
The Shocking Truth:
The "Criminal" Social Worker: My case was led by a Social Worker who was herself a convicted criminal (Conspiracy to Murder, 1995). She used threats to force my plea.
Ignored Forensic Evidence:Fingerprints and grip marks found on my child did not match mine. The police refused to investigate this proof of my innocence.
Medical Misdiagnosis: Marks on my son’s ears were used as "proof" of abuse, completely ignoring his medical diagnosis of "Glue Ear," which caused him to rub his ears in pain.
Coordinated Character Assassination: My conviction was bolstered by five false witness statements. These individuals colluded to frame me—including people who had never even met my children.
The Ultimate Betrayal: While I was being framed, my children were placed directly into the care of my former partner—a man with a documented four-year history of domestic violence against me.
A Denied Right to Justice
On the day of my conviction, I wasn't even allowed in the courtroom. My solicitor entered a plea on my behalf while I was in a separate room. When I immediately tried to withdraw it and plead "Not Guilty," I was silenced.
I have spent over two decades carrying the weight of a crime I did not commit. The evidence—from the fingerprints to the corrupt handling of the case—has been there all along. It is time for the truth to be heard.
My Demand:
I call on Mark Hobrough (Gwent Police) and the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) to:
1. Perform a full, independent review of the 2001 case files.
2. Acknowledge the forensic evidence that excludes Geraldine Dunlop.
3. Investigate the professional misconduct that led to this wrongful conviction.
Please sign this petition to demand accountability. No victim of domestic abuse should be silenced and framed by the system meant to protect them.
