SAY NO TO FOUR LANES ON THE SEA ISLAND PARKWAY

This petition had 1,078 supporters

The Issue

The Ladys Island Plan envisioned re-development over time of the Sea Island Parkway between the Woods Memorial Bridge and Sams Point Road/Ladys Island Drive into a walkable, mixed-use, and pedestrian-friendly Ladys Island Center.

Now, in a surprise development, County Council's Public Facilities Committee is proposing a widening of Sea Island Parkway to four lanes, from the Woods Memorial Bridge to Walmart.

Four Lanes from the "Publix Intersection" to Walmart is not unreasonable. But four lanes from the Publix Intersection to the Swing Bridge is the worst of all possible solutions to reducing traffic on the Parkway. On the contrary, it will INCREASE traffic, INCREASE traffic speeds, and INCREASE congestion both on Ladys Island and in the City of Beaufort.

Please sign the petition, and join the Sea Island Coalition in sending a strong message to County Council - NO FOUR LANES ON THE SEA ISLAND PARKWAY.

And while you're at it, send your own email to Council members, so they know how strongly you feel about it. Council members may be emailed at:
