The Issue

My name is Sheila Oliver. I am campaigning for justice for Luba Macpherson, a mother and carer who has faced legal punishment after speaking out about the appalling abuse her disabled daughter suffered in a care home.

No parent should be punished for protecting their vulnerable child. No care home should be allowed to silence whistleblowers.

What Happened:

Luba raised the alarm about shocking treatment her daughter endured in a care home.
Instead of being listened to, she faced legal action and is now imprisoned.
The care home and authorities failed to protect her daughter and failed to support Luba when she did the right thing.
This is a violation of basic human rights and a dangerous precedent for other families and carers.

What We Are Asking For:
We call on the UK Government and relevant authorities to:

Release Luba Macpherson immediately.
Conduct a full independent investigation into the failures that led to her daughter’s mistreatment.
Strengthen protections for whistleblowers in care settings so no one is punished for speaking up.
Reform care home oversight to make sure abuse cannot be hidden and families’ concerns are taken seriously.
Why It Matters:
If this can happen to Luba, it can happen to any parent or carer. Families must be free to speak up when their loved ones are at risk — without fear of being silenced or punished.

By signing this petition, you are standing with Luba, with her daughter, and with every vulnerable person in care. Together we can demand justice and systemic change.

Take Action Now:
Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and networks. Let’s make sure Luba is freed and that no one else suffers what she and her daughter have endured.
