Income Security for Oregon Residents!
The Issue
In 2021, our employer, Kaiser Permanente (KP), HR system moved to HRconnect. This system has resulted in many errors, many of which has caused financial harm to frontline healthcare professionals.
It is unclear how deep the errors with the programming for HRconnect truly are. In January 2021, due to a system glitch, several staff members were “overpaid” erroneously. KP only found the errors months later and started attempting to collect for the overages. Due to state law in Washington, KP could not collect for overages as they had missed their legal timeline (“If the overpayment is not detected within the ninety-day period, the employer cannot adjust an employee's current or future wages to recoup the overpayment”- L&I WAC 296-126-030).
This is not a protection that Oregon residents have.
Can you help us get the same protections that many of our coworkers have in SW Washington already have under L&I WAC 296-126-030? It is our hope to secure similar paycheck protections for Oregon residents.
We are also calling on our employer, Kaiser, to create an improved pathway to escalate HRconnect/payroll issues resulting faster resolutions. We are demanding audits of all our paychecks for the last year to ensure each and every Kaiser employee has been properly paid.
