Make Sharon Santos’s Case a Priority

Make Sharon Santos’s Case a Priority
The Issue
Dear District Attorney Nathan Hochman,
Twenty years ago, on a day etched in heartbreak, Sharon Santos, a 30-year-old lifelong Angeleno, was abducted from Burbank, assaulted, and found murdered in the trunk of her car in Chinatown. The pain of her loss reverberates to this day, magnified by the fact that her killer still walks free.
Your leadership as the newly-elected District Attorney for Los Angeles County and your reputation as a Defender of Criminal Justice and a Dedicated Community Leader can unite the Burbank community and amplify the urgency of her case. Together, with your support and the rallying of this community, we can ensure that Sharon’s legacy is honored and justice is finally served.
Mr. Hochman, we know that your passion for justice and public safety are what fueled your desire to become District Attorney. Burbank, where Sharon lived and was murdered, boasts a very low murder rate and a place where public safety is held to the highest standards. Sharon's unsolved case is a 20-year long blight on the city itself.
Sharon was more than the senseless tragedy that ended her life. She was a trailblazer and a dreamer, a daughter and a sister, a friend and a colleague. As a senior financial analyst at Warner Bros., she excelled in her career while nurturing passions that showcased her adventurous and creative spirit. She studied Mt. Kilauea with the U.S. Geological Survey, earned a degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, enjoyed creating jewelry, ornaments and paintings, and took to the skies with pilot lessons and skydiving.
Her mother, Edna, now 80 years old, has waited painfully for answers about her daughter’s death. The urgency to bring resolution to Sharon’s case grows stronger with each passing day.
We, The SHARE Team (Support, Honor, Advocate, Raise Awareness, Engage), are calling on you to take decisive action. We urge you to bring the power of your office to bear in Sharon’s case.
We respectfully ask you to:
- Support the time, resources, funding and technology needed for Burbank PD to thoroughly investigate Sharon’s case
- Provide oversight and ensure her case receives the attention and expertise required to pursue justice
- Stand with a family and community that has waited two decades for answers and closure
To our friends, family, and supporters: Your signatures represent the collective call to action to ensure Sharon’s life is remembered, not just for the tragedy of its end, but for the justice we will achieve in her name.
District Attorney Hochman, we urge you to take action and ensure that your winning campaign of justice and public safety becomes a reality for the family of Sharon Santos. Let Sharon’s story and legacy remind us all of the importance of accountability and compassion. Your involvement can help bring long-overdue closure to Sharon’s family while sending a powerful message to others waiting for justice: their voices matter, and their pain is not forgotten.
Sincerely,
The SHARE Team (Support, Honor, Advocate, Raise Awareness, Engage)
On behalf of Sharon’s family, friends and supporters
