Grant Clemency for Rashad Valmont
The Issue
I am respectfully requesting clemency consideration for Rashad Valmont.
Rashad has served more than 15 years in federal custody. His offense occurred in 2010 during a time when critical mental-health warning signs—such as bullying, emotional distress, and psychological breakdown—were widely overlooked and insufficiently addressed. At that time, the systems meant to identify and intervene in such circumstances often failed individuals who were clearly struggling. Rashad was one of those individuals who slipped through the cracks.
Since his incarceration, Rashad has taken full accountability for his actions and has committed himself to profound personal transformation. Over the past decade and a half, he has consistently participated in rehabilitative programming, earned certificates, maintained institutional compliance, and demonstrated measurable growth. His conduct reflects not only rehabilitation, but genuine readiness for reintegration into society.
Clemency in this case would recognize the purpose of rehabilitation and the value of transformation. It would also allow Rashad to contribute positively as a mentor and advocate for mental-health awareness, particularly for individuals facing bullying, psychological distress, and lack of support—issues that remain critical today. His lived experience uniquely positions him to help others avoid the path that once failed him.
Granting clemency would affirm the justice system’s commitment to proportionality, accountability, and redemption. It would reflect a belief that people are more than the worst moment of their lives, and that growth, responsibility, and service should matter.
I respectfully ask for review and consideration of clemency for Rashad Valmont.
Thank you for your time, compassion, and service.
