Kenji Howard was granted a petition for Habeas Corpus on July 16th, 2021 which recalled his sentence of 49 years to life and vacated his conviction of murder in the first degree and three attempted murders. Judge Ryan of the Los Angeles Superior Court agreed Mr. Howard's newly discovered evidence proved his innocence of the crimes he was charged with in 1995.

Today Deputy District Attorney, Michael Mallano, wants to re-charge Kenji Howard, but now with a double homicide and take him back to juvenile court after 26 years of being incarcerated for a crime he has already proven he did not commit. We are asking for District Attorney George Gascòn to intervene and ask Deputy District Attorney Mallano to drop any charges he plans on filing in this case. We are asking the District Attorneys office of Los Angeles County to free an innocent man from custody today.
