The Issue

Our lives have been shattered by an unwelcome intruder in our food chain - Vitamin B6 (aka pyridoxine, P5P), a common presence in cereals, energy drinks, vitamin waters, supplements, and more. Those of us with Vitamin B6 Toxicity suffer from a range of debilitating symptoms, including neuropathy, anxiety, insomnia, Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, extreme fatigue, brain fog, and functional incapacity, all as a result of what seemed like a harmless vitamin supplementing our meals.

Embedded in our diets, an excessive intake of Vitamin B6 that may appear harmless can destroy lives, as we have unfortunately discovered first-hand. Australia is leading the way in regulating the safe limits of B6 consumption. We propose that governments worldwide follow their lead, recognizing the potential dangers of overexposure to Vitamin B6 and implementing stricter regulations grounded in further scientific research.

Vitamin B6 is essential for human health. Many of our foods contain high amounts of B6 naturally, there's no need to supplement for the typical person. Deficiency exists as well, but many people become toxic trying to fix the imbalance. Supplementation even as low as .5mg daily has been found to create B6 toxicity in people (via blood test) and can lead to nerve damage, as well as other horrible symptoms. This demonstrates that it is not as innocent as it seems.

We call for a worldwide awareness campaign to educate the public about Vitamin B6's potential dangers. We advocate for more scientific research into this issue. We demand that worldwide safety limits for Vitamin B6 be drastically reduced, following Australia's example, to prevent more individuals from falling prey to such unexpected debilitation.

The USA and Canada have an upper safe limit of 100 mg daily. Yet the recommended daily allowance is set from 1.3-1.7 mg daily. How can this be? Australia's upper safe limit is set to 12mg daily (which is still too high, but much better than 100mg). Several other countries in Europe have also drastically lowered the safe limits. Several countries also include a warning label on products containing vitamin B6. We want it worldwide.
