Emma Walker, former Interim CEO and Mental Health Spokesperson for the Scottish Liberal Democrats, has repeatedly requested an independent investigation into serious safeguarding and governance concerns within both the Scottish and Federal Liberal Democrat parties.

No independent investigation has taken place.

Despite this, public statements have been made by Alex Cole Hamilton MSP and Wendy Chamberlain MP suggesting her complaints were handled independently. Emma has never been contacted by an independent investigator, nor asked to submit evidence to one.

This petition calls for a genuinely independent, external investigation into:

• Breaches of statutory obligations, including UK GDPR
• Suppression of protected disclosures
• Misuse of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA's)
• Failure of safeguarding and duty of care
• Retaliation against individuals raising concerns
• Misrepresentation to the public
• Concerns relating to alleged paedophilia within and around the party

Political parties must meet the same standards of transparency and accountability expected of every other workplace in the UK.

If allegations of bullying, misconduct or safeguarding failures are raised, they must be independently examined, not internally managed.

We are asking Alex Cole Hamilton MSP and Ed Davey MP to commission an independent investigation covering both the Scottish and Federal Liberal Democrat parties.
