Currently, the only Amtrak route serving New Hampshire is the Downeaster. I would like to see Amtrak establish a service to Concord, New Hampshire with intermediate stops at Manchester, Merrimack, and Nashua. The service should either be named the Mother of Rivers, Granite Service, or White Mountain Runner. None of these cities have seen passenger rail service since 1981, and they are among the largest cities in the United States without passenger rail service. In addition, a similar service of the same idea should be established to Portsmouth, New Hampshire with intermediate stops at North Hampton and Hampton. The service(s) should feature the standard amenities offered on most Amtrak trains, including restrooms on-board and a dining car. I have no clue when Portsmouth last saw passenger rail service, but it probably last saw service under the Boston & Maine Railroad, which ceased operation in 1983. In 2021, Amtrak established a plan to establish new rail services, but I don't know if it included any cities in New Hampshire or not. That could be remedied with this petition. If rail services are established further north from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, it would provide an alternative to roads, alleviating traffic congestion.
