For many years, immigrant families like ours have strived to meet the income qualifications necessary to sponsor our parents. We've worked hard and made sacrifices, only to find that we cannot even submit an application or express our interest in sponsoring since 2020. This situation is deeply unfair for immigrants who have met all requirements but were not given a chance to submit interest forms beforehand.

The current supervisa system is not a viable alternative. It places a heavy financial burden on families due to high insurance and medical costs, and it does not foster a sense of belonging for our parents or grandparents.

We urge Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to reopen the Interest of Sponsoring Parent/Grandparent Program immediately. This program is crucial for immigrant families striving for unity and stability in their new home country.
