I try to be active in my community and an involved citizen. As an educator, I try to teach my students to do the same thing. Through this, I came to realize that our laws and policies need rewording.
Somewhere along the way, the policies and laws began to be written in legalese instead of English. The average newspaper is written on a 3rd grade reading level. The average novel is written on a 5th grade reading level. Our laws and policies are written on a graduate reading level that most Texans cannot understand.
This includes educational TEKS, TexDot, DFPS information, and other relevant policies.
Do not allow our government to obscure policy through reading level and vocabulary. These laws impact all Texans, so all Texans should be able to read them.
Please sign to encourage the Texas Senate to make our state laws and policies readable by all Texans. Read more
The Constitution of India was made by The Constitution Assembly in 1946-1950. That Assembly was consisting Lawyers, Doctors, Judges, Authors, Polititians who were Bachelorette and Doctorates. So that, The Constitution made by them is in very tough language to understand by a citizen of India. It consists judicial & lawyer's language. So that people can not able to understand them easily due to its difficult syntax. So that I want to pledge the top authority of India to modify & to simplify it in easy langaual and easy syntax.Read more

Cumberland County Animal Control is considering an adoption ban that would affect Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Pitbulls, Mastiffs, Akitas, Huskies, or any mix of these breeds.
Although Dr. John Lauby, Animal Control director, has stressed lately that it is a limitation of breed-specific adoptions rather than a ban, the proposal goes on to say that a county resident would not be allowed to adopt one of these breeds.
Their reason for this proposal is they do not want to be held liable for these breeds and the possible problems with them after adoption from the shelter.
We need to let them know that this is not the answer.
These dogs will be held for the mandatory 72 hours and then will be killed, THEY WILL NOT BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO BE ADOPTED.
