I have started a petition to close Anthony’s pet store for good. They starve animals. They also have been known to sell puppies with parvovirus, and even animals not ready to be away from the mother. This is abuse. They have many petitions against them, but I will not stop until they are shut down. The animals have empty food bowls and occasionally a small toy in their cold, hard, concrete and metal cage. They refuse to give them a bed or even a blanket and their “toys” have been seen to be shoe laces. Please take the time to make a difference and save these animals that will be the next victim to this sorry excuse of a business. Thank you. Read more

Petition to Sunsations , Ronnie Sibony, Larry Bublick
Hermit crabs are complex animals who can live for over 30 years in their natural habitat, the tropical seashore. These social beings thrive in large colonies and often sleep piled up together. They enjoy climbing, foraging, and exploring and even work in teams to find food. When two crabs meet for the first time, they become acquainted through an elaborate exchange of clicking noises. These sensitive animals will even rub and nurse their wounds when they’re injured.
Every single land hermit crab sold in souvenir shops like Sunsations—hundreds of thousands every year—has been caught from the wild, as these animals do not breed readily in captivity.
Investigative footage has revealed that to the souvenir industry, hermit crabs are nothing more than disposable trinkets. A shocking investigation of one hermit crab supplier* in Florida, for example, recently revealed what happens to many hermit crabs after being ripped from the seashore, before they reach store shelves: They are confined in filthy, crowded warehouses by the thousands and tossed in bags with hundreds of others to be shipped to retailers. Hermit crabs depend on their natural shells for protection, yet in another video, these delicate animals are shown being forcibly shoved into painted shells to be sold to tourists. Clearly, for an industry that profits off selling millions of these tiny animals, animal welfare isn't even an afterthought.
Once at the boardwalk, hermit crabs are sold to tourists in tiny, barren cages with some pebbles and a plastic palm tree. Deprived of everything natural to them, they are destined to die in mere months.
They often spend their short captive lives slowly perishing from suffocation because their modified gills require high humidity to breathe. These crabs also need deep substrate to molt and grow; without it, their bodies will halt the molting process until their death. Many are slowly poisoned by chlorinated tap water and the toxic paint adorning their shells. Hermit crabs don’t care if they’re pink or purple, but they pay with their lives because we do.
Sunsations is a beloved family store—but it is also one of the largest sellers of wild hermit crabs on the East Coast. Its customers would be shocked to learn that these crabs are wild animals who are torn from their habitats to be sold in barren, crowded conditions that lead to their untimely deaths.
Please join us in telling Sunsations to stop supporting the cruel hermit crab trade. Urge it replace the sale of living hermit crabs—who are so much more than mere trinkets—with non-living souvenirs that will truly last for generations to come instead of rotting in a cage by summer's end.

Modoc County, California, approved a 5-year $3.5 million airport development plan that includes a massive, 3-mile long, barbed-wire topped 8-foot high fence. Having an airport, even a small and primitive airport, operating in the middle of the Tule Lake concentration camp site, is inappropriate and demeans the memory of more than 24,000 people who were incarcerated in Tule Lake. The proposed fence closes off remembrance of this civil and human rights tragedy, and it will destroy the integrity of this unique historic site. The fence will eliminate opportunities for Japanese Americans and others to visit, reflect and mourn. This exclusion will be a permanent legacy of Modoc County’s and the Federal Aviation Administration's failure to comprehend the traumatic injustice created by the racism, fed by wartime greed and hysteria and failed political leadership that led to the mass incarceration.
The Tule Lake site has not yet been comprehensively surveyed to document surface and subsurface historic WWII resources. Consequently, it is a priority to identify structures and artifacts before more damage to the site takes place. In July 2014, the Tule Lake Committee sought legally-mandated environmental review of the entire airport area, which occupies two-thirds of the former Tule Lake site. However, instead of conducting careful examination of the entire area WITHIN the fence project, including subsurface review, the County and the FAA have argued their environmental responsibility is confined to surveying only a narrow strip of land where the 3-mile long fence would directly lie.
In the past year, the Tule Lake Committee participated in talks with Modoc County, the FAA, other state and federal agencies and local representatives, hoping to promote understanding of the historic site’s significance, urging it be protected, not destroyed.
Seeking a long-term solution to the problem of preserving an irreplaceable historic site, we raised the issue of moving the Tulelake airport to a less sensitive nearby location. It was clear to all interested parties that a small airport can be moved. It is not possible to move a historic site.
Thank you for signing our petition! We are grateful for your support.

In Short: Idaho representatives motion to pass a bill (SB1211) that will enable hunters to kill thousands of wolves. An extra $190,000 (USD) will be transferred by the state to carry out such measures.
Let's hold state officials accountable to put an end to this call for a wolf hunt. Let's get 15,000 signatures to showcase that we care about our wildlife.
The lengthy take-away:
Note: the underlined colored text are citations for that information.
Idaho representatives have motioned to pass a bill that will open wolf hunting season from seasonal to year-round. It also will allow farmers and ranchers to protect their livestock at any and ALL costs and measures.
According to Idaho State Senator Harris wolves are "... destroying ranchers; they’re destroying wildlife”.
The bill also does not limit the number of wolves to be killed.
Persons contracted by those in agriculture or licensed carriers may determine a wolf to be a nuisance if the wolves are deemed to be "molesting" livestock. Under the bill, "molesting" means the actions of a wolf that are annoying, disturbing or persecuting, especially with hostile intent or injurious effect, or chasing, driving, flushing, worrying, following after or on the trail of, or stalking or lying in wait for, livestock or domestic animals. These behaviors are natural methods of hunting for the wolf.
The state of Idaho plans to have a money grab that increases the funds available to manage the wolf population by $190,000 (USD). This will allow the state to hire and give licenses to those that have a vested interest in protecting their agricultural lands.
Title 22 and Title 36 of the State of Idaho are some examples of how government favors protecting those that have a vested interest in carrying out animal agriculture practices, in which degrade ecosystems and harm wildlife. This is an ongoing problem in legislature where majority of the laws in place are "anti-animal".
The motion to pass SB 1211 to become law will have a detrimental effect on local wildlife populations, both flora, and fauna. This will affect the web of life connected to these lands and will leave a lasting negative impact on our future generations, which include our kids and our grandchildren. If hunters are to kill these necessary predators, other species will overpopulate and provide an even greater "nuisance" to surrounding lands. The harmful effects of culling predators can be seen throughout the United States by how any state department of fish and game manages wildlife.

Co-sponsors of the current bill in question are:
Representative Laurie Lickley
Representative Marc Gibbs
Co-sponsor Info
With a quick search on who the sponsors are, is it surprising that almost all of the parties aforementioned have a connection to animal agriculture?
If the state of Idaho can afford to come up with an extra $190,000 a year, this begs the question of what that money can be utilized for instead of killing wolves that are necessary to a healthy and thriving ecosystem.
The ask:
Hold the Govorner of Idaho accountable and stop the bill from passing.
A call to action to protect all wolf species under the Endangered Species Act -- any and all wildlife protection agencies and bodies are welcomed to collaborate on solutions
Utilize the $190,000 (USD) and hire environmentalists to protect lands and to strategize non-lethal measures
Provide predator education outreach

Truckers are working hard to haul the goods the American people need.
It is a travesty that Covid 19 legislation is grossly inadequate in addressing the unique needs of the long haul driver.
Long haulers are away from home far more often than they are at home. If a driver becomes ill with Covid 19, it is far more likely it will happen on the road. They are especially vulnerable, due to their dependence on truck stops, where they encounter the traveling public frequently. Additionally, they are in and out of shippers and receivers and rest areas regularly. This situation is declining, as rest areas and shippers/receivers are increasingly closing restrooms and instead installing Kybos.
At this time there is still no official guidance, nor assistance, for the long haul driver.
If drivers get sick, your shelves go bare.
Our nation's drivers should not have to risk financial catastrophe for themselves and their families, in addition to their increased risk of illness, for absolutely no compensation*, nor assistance, in the event they fall ill or test positive.
A minimum of 3 issues need addressed immediately.
1. Establishment of a hotline for drivers where they can receive guidance on what to do and where to go if they become ill when on the road. Due to the nature of their vehicle, up to 70 foot long and 80,000 pounds, they will likely require facilitation in regard to getting them to a clinic or hospital and later, possibly, to a motel or appropriate facility.
2. Drivers who become ill while in the course of their duties, who were forced to quarantine in a motel or other facility away from home, should be reimbursed 100% of all expenses for food, supply delivery and lodging. If a family member must travel to the truck driver, those travel expenses should be fully reimbursed.
3. Drivers who become ill in the course of their duties should be entitled to sick pay, commensurate with their average daily earnings, until such time as they are medically cleared to return to work. Additionally, a driver who tests positive, whether ill or not, but who is required to be quarantined, should also be entitled to sick pay.
This should apply to all drivers, no matter the number of employees their carrier employs, including owner operators. (edited for clarity 4/2/20)
Considering the disgusting pet pork projects allowed to pass, this protection for the American truck driver should not even be in question. This petition does not ask for hazard pay, raises or bonuses - it asks only for protection.
Truckers, friends and their families are millions strong and we're watching.
Do the right thing.
Thank you to all those who sign in support the American truck driver. We deeply appreciate you.
*ETA, 4/2/2020: Please see the 2nd update for more information about why the legislation passed thus far does not adequately provide sufficient protections for ALL truckers.
IMPORTANT UPDATE! 4/7/2020: Announced today is a proposal for hazard pay for essentials, including truck drivers. Although hazard pay is not what was asked for in this petition, this is a side-step in a direction that might address what we ARE asking for - sick pay & reimbursements for Covid related issues.
There's never been a more important time to reach out to your lawmakers and share, share, share. One part of the statement that is a little worrisome says, "The Heroes Fund would provide funding directly to eligible employers so they could then distribute the premium payments." Who is an eligible employer? The end goal of this petition is that ALL truckers are covered for illness. Keep your eye on this!
