Petition to School Adminstration, Teachers, Students, Parents
There is a stage that where most of the students are beginning to be more curious about life . this is where they start came out from their "comfort zone", exploring life and make their own decisions. In this stage they start doing what they want to do even it’s wrong ,like cutting classes and crossing over the fence
It’s my first year in senior high school, I remember when I’m on my way home, I saw a students crossing over the fence and it made me think that its not right ,even though it’s not my first time seeing students who cut their classes, its still unacceptable because they're suppose to be in the school than making those none sense action. We want call the attentions of school administration, teacher, parents, and students please take actions to prevent this to happening.
Here our ways to improve school security.
My first step is, wearing Uniforms are must. no one can enter the campus without wearing their uniforms. Of course when you wore your uniform someone will easily and in case of emergency.
Second, school I.D’s, its serves as Identification card inside or outside of the school. If accident happens you'll have help easily.
Third, if the school can afford the place where mostly the students who do absolutely nothing should have CCTV's. But for my school, we have CCTV's but mostly are old and not functioning well.
We think every school need to tighten their security, especially in our school because that's for the discipline of every students for better study to become better people and citizen. I believe in the saying " school is our second home". Yes of course, why? we actually spent mostly of our time in school. that's why every students needs to be take care.
It sounds like so idealistic but somehow if we cooperate with each other we can achieved this. Read more
The recent death of Deputy Minister Bavelile Hlongwa on the road in Polokwane is a trigger to an issue that has been a challenge for us as South Africans on the road for a long time.
In just 18 Days between 1 to 18 December 2018, 770 people had died on the roads of South Africa and 44 of these involved trucks.
And in the 14 Days of September there were at least 15 Major Truck accidents on the roads of Gauteng that we could trace. The main causes of accidents on the road are drinking and driving, extreme fatigue, but we want to add that there are a lot of drivers on the road who do not deserve to be on the road. Either because of low Skill or Attitude not conducive to driving.
We demand that the National Department do one small thing beyond the Normal Arrive Alive and standard enforcement that are currently in place: We believe that the neglected cause of Road accidents are drivers that do not understand the rules of the road and got their licences either illegally or were not fully trained. It is a matter of cause that driving tests and driving schools regulation has laxed recently due to pressures experienced by the various policing departments and it is also a matter of cause that the K53 driving curriculum does not test attitude on the road, which according to research can lead to 60% of deaths on the road.
So we propose the following :
1) Change the curriculum of K53 to include attitude testing, not just as a principle on the road but as an equally weighted element together with driving skills.
2) Regulate driving schools with specific focus on enforcement of this change.
3) Integrate driving rules and regulations back as a critical school topic that is examinable in the National Curriculum System (NCS) with a view to creating better road aware citizens from an early age.
We demand as active and conscious citizens that you hear and revert to us with a high level plan a month after receiving this petition. This can form part of the overall strategy for Road Safety and we will be glad to support the ministry where we can.
We are dying on the roads Mr Minister! Do something please!
