My request is for your thoughts and prayers to be with Mr Sharma and his family through this devastating situation
I would also urge the police department to take strict action against the criminal. we as a society cannot remain silent to this incident by letting this go unnoticed
The accused clearly is unafraid of the consequences of his action to commit a crime in broad daylight.
This message will create awareness and provide support to the family. Their suffering and struggle during this period is unimaginable
The Perpetrator of this brutal crime cannot go unpunished
I implore you to help me see this violent criminal get the justice he deservesRead more

Many of the UK’s leading supermarkets are selling suffering. Suppliers for Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Asda, Coop, Iceland, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl are breeding millions of overgrown FrankenChickens who are unable to stand under their own bodyweight, forcing them to lie in their own waste inside overcrowded sheds until they are slaughtered at just a few weeks old.
Chickens are gentle, sensitive individuals who feel fear and pain every bit as much as our beloved pets. No animal deserves to lie in their own waste or live in chronic pain.
Change is possible. Waitrose and M&S have signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment, which will make significant changes to the lives of chickens and end the worst farming practices, but other supermarkets are refusing.
While many individuals have suffered through the COVID-19 pandemic, big supermarkets have won out; making huge surges in profits. They are so powerful, that they hold immense sway over the way chickens are farmed across the UK and beyond. The decisions supermarkets make now, will seal the fate of millions of animals. We must urgently convince the supermarkets that are dragging their heels to change their ways!

Do you want to stop puppy mills?
I'd love y'all to support my campaign to help close a USDA loophole which currently is very bad news for puppies. As an active member of the rescue community I have seen the effects of puppy mills first hand and would appreciate your support. I was originally planning to submit this on July 16, but just heard the comment period has been extended until August 15 - that means we have even more time to sign and share this!
The problem is that right now many puppy breeding facilities that sell puppies are not licensed or regularly inspected for basic humane treatment of animals. These places sell online, on the phone, or through the mail without even giving people a chance to see the animal like you would in a regular, inspected and licensed store.
While I'm a rescuer and would always encourage you to adopt an animal, the fact is that this huge USDA loophole is being exploited by those who breed and sell animals without being held to basic animal welfare standards.
Please join me and sign the petition. Let's work together to take this step forward for animal welfare.
Comments will be part of a Proposed Rule on Animal Welfare; Retail Pet Stores and Licensing Exemptions (Document ID APHIS-2011-0003-0001)

Yum! Brands, parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger, is responsible for the cruel and archaic confinement of millions of egg-laying hens in tiny, filthy cages.
These cages are so small and packed with birds that the hens can’t move or spread their wings. Often, their body parts are caught in the caging, resulting in fractured or broken bones, deformities, and severe feather loss. Some hens, exhausted or unable to move, are trampled to death by their cage mates. Those that don’t die from the abuse spend their miserable lives trapped with dead birds at their feet.
Thousands of companies around the world are ditching cages. Global commitments to go cage-free are being made by some of the largest companies in the world, including Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeyes, Unilever, Nestle, Aldi, InterContinental Hotels, Sodexo, Marriott, Wyndham, Compass Group, Shake Shack, Famous Brands, Costa Coffee, and Barilla. Even low-end fast food and pet food companies are moving away from this horrible practice.
Yum! Brands says it is dedicated to “building global, iconic brands people trust and champion". Customers around the world are losing trust while KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell profit from the unfathomable abuse of millions of animals. Please sign this petition asking Yum! Brands to go cage-free. Read more

In the cocoa fields of the Ivory Coast, child slavery is ‘normal.’ It’s routine. It’s accepted. Children as young as 7 are sold – deprived of their childhood, ripped from their families, and subjected to routine abuse – to work long, backbreaking days picking cocoa. And it all stems from our love of chocolate.
While many chocolate brands have made public commitments to find the best solution, Warner Bros. is lagging behind:
1. An independent investigation into their supplier Behr’s Chocolates led to a failing score of 1 out of 48 possible measures to ensure their operations are slavery-free;
2. Warner Bros. dismissed the findings of the investigation, simply stating that they were ‘satisfied’ that fair labour practices were being used in the production of their chocolates;
3. Given the conflicting information, outraged consumers asked Warner Bros. what steps were taken to ensure there was no slavery in Harry Potter Chocolates. Warner Bros. refused to respond.
As we head into one of the busiest times of the year for Warner Bros. theme parks. Children excited to experience the world of Harry Potter will be asking their parents to buy these chocolates. That’s why taking a stand right now will make a big impact.
Ask Warner Bros. what steps they’re taking to ensure Harry Potter chocolates are slavery-free.Read more
Verizon Wireless just announced a new $2 fee for paying your bills online. Really. Even though paying via internet is fully automated.
It’s not just about the money (though if you’re like me, you don’t have extra cash to be sending to a giant phone company in order to pay your own bills.) It’s that Verizon thinks it can do anything to its customers, and that we’re powerless to stop it. (Spoiler alert: We’re not.)
And guess what? It turns out that Verizon paid zero federal income tax from 2008-2010. Actually, they got almost a billion dollars in rebates from taxpayers.
Sign this petition to tell Verizon Wireless to drop the fee for paying bills online.Read more
I moved to Jacksonville from Long Island 12 years ago. Since then, I've put down roots here. I've helped raise a beautiful daughter here. This place is my home now, and the people who live here deserve better than a high school named for the first Grand Wizard of the KKK.
That's right, Jacksonville is home to Nathan Bedford Forrest High School, named in honor of a Confederate general who infamously slaughtered Black Union soldiers who'd already surrendered and who was a founding member of the original Ku Klux Klan. The school got its name in 1959, when white civic leaders wanted to protest a court decision that called for integrating public schools.
I don't want my daughter, or any student, going to a school named under those circumstances. This is a bad look for Florida -- with so much racial division in our state, renaming Forrest High would be a step toward healing.
Five years ago, the school board voted 5 - 2 to keep the name. But a lot has changed in five years. All five members who voted for Nathan Bedford Forrest have been replaced. There's a new school superintendent who publicly stated that he would support a push from our community to change the name. Now is the time to right a historical wrong. African American Jacksonville students shouldn't have to attend a high school named for someone who slaughtered and terrorized their ancestors one more school year.
In the end, I want my child to be able to go anywhere in Jacksonville and be proud of where she is. That can't happen with Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. Please support changing the name today.Read more
In a now-viral image circulating throughout Turkish social media, two young men pose proudly next to a cowering dog with bloody stumps for ears, each man holding what appears to be a dog ear in his hand.
According to Turkish news, the pair are suspected to be involved in dogfighting, and were reportedly punishing one of their losing dogs.
The Turkish justice system has now let the men off with a fine of just over what is equivalent to $1,000 U.S. dollars. And no jail time.
This lax punishment is not acceptable for inflicting such reprehensible harm on an animal.
These men's shockingly light sentence is not even close to proportional to the pain and suffering they senselessly inflicted on an innocent animal — let alone the multiple dogs presumably forced to tear each other to shreds in fights staged for human entertainment.
Animals are not toys. They are not property. They have thoughts and feelings, as backed up by research demonstrating that dogs are just as sentient as a human child. What’s more, cruelty to animals is irrefutably linked to cruelty to human beings.
This incident of grossly inhumane treatment highlights the urgent need for the Turkish government to revisit their animal cruelty laws. Please sign this petition now to call on Turkey's Ambassador to the United States, Serdar Kılıç, to advocate for stronger punishment for animal abuse. Dogs like this deserve justice, and animal torture must be treated like the serious crime that it truly is.Read more
Toronto's shelter system is full and people are routinely turned away. The overflow, volunteer-run Out of the Cold program is similarly full. Last winter, the two 24-hour warming centres were overcrowded, sleeping people inches away from each other on mats on the floor. A serious Strep A outbreak has resulted in a loss of over 100 shelter beds. Hundreds of people are abandoned, forced to sleep outside in parks, ravines, under bridges and on sidewalks.
In the past, the Mayor of Toronto requested the Minister of National Defence for use of Fort York and Moss Park armouries for emergency shelter four separate times. Each time the Mayor asked, the federal government said yes and hundreds of people were able to access safe shelter.
Opening the armouries will prevent deaths.Read more
