    Petition to Department of Justice

Receive Justice for this Racially motivated conviction

On October 2, 2020. Eric Devon Wilson Jr was sentenced to 62 years in prison. You are probably thinking He must have committed some heinous murder? NOPE no murder at all! Had to be a robbery conviction? NOPE no robbery! Must have been a major drug offender right? Nope no drugs involved at all. He had to have an extensive violent/criminal history? Nope had only had one charge as an adult years prior and was not a violent charge. Okay so now someone must have been badly injured right? Absolutely not, there was not one single injury during this alleged crime. This is a ridiculous absurd sentencing and it shows that there was a hidden agenda behind the case. The judge that resided over the case had already been tied to a racial page and denied allegation that she was involved, The detective on the case had a vendetta against this young man because of something he believed the young man was involved in 6 years earlier that he couldn’t prove, so he got witnesses to get on the stand and lie under oath. One witness which was familiar with the defendant and had previously called his father claiming that the detective was forcing her to lie on the stand in order to drop all charges against her related to this crime. The prosecutor on the case also had a vendetta against the young man as he had picked up a cellphone as a child which belonged to her, something that a lot of kids could do. He took it to trial because he had faith in the justice system and didn’t feel like the system would let him down, however the conspiracy and people in a position of power prevailed and were aloud to sentence him to this absurd amount of time, when no murderer had ever been given this kind of sentence. May it also be noted that no one was even injured during the course of this alleged crime! The victim they claimed he shot at, was a friend of his whom testified that he did not believe the defendant was the one whom shot at him because he couldn’t think of any reason he would have shot at him, as they were friends and had never had any problem. One of the witnesses that testified against the defendant after being offered immunity, had been a codefendant along with her son, so she had every reason to lie on this young man. I ask that every stand up for the racial injustice of this young man, this is beyond unreasonable and we need an appeal. Please and thank you.

Support Former Buffalo Police Officer Cariol Horne to Receive her Pension

As Law Enforcement Professionals, we are asking for the support of former Buffalo Police Officer Cariol Horne. Officer Horne was unjustly fired because she dared to intervene in stopping her co-worker, Officer Kwiatkowski, from assaulting a cuffed suspect and violating a suspect’s rights.  David Mack, like Eric Gardner, was dying of strangulation, the helpless 59-year-old man was handcuffed and the man that was killing him was a Buffalo Police Officer Gregory Kwiatowski.  There were, once again, nearly a dozen police officers on the scene. Horne – a tiny black woman who was roughly half Kwiatkowski’s size — was the only one who assumed the role of peace officer by intervening to prevent the murder of an innocent man. The use of lethal force would have been justified, but Horne – once again acting as a peace officer – used proportionate force, even though in doing so she exposed herself to risk.  “I thought whatever happened in the house [Kwiatkowski] was still upset about so when he didn’t stop choking him, I just grabbed his arm from around Neal’s neck,” Horne recalled in a recent television interview. “He comes up and punches me in the face and I had to have my bridge replaced.”  Mack, who survived the assault, was hit with the predictable assortment of cover charges, which were just as predictably dismissed. Cariol Horne was charged with “obstruction” for supposedly “jumping on Officer Kwiatkowski’s back and/or striking him.” Read Full Story Here The city of Buffalo, the Buffalo Police Department, allowed Kwiatkowski to continue on the force as a supervisor despite his several infractions but turned on Officer Horne, who did her job by stopping a criminal act. December 1, 2016, Officer Kwiatkowski pled guilty to federal charges, but he was allowed by the city of Buffalo to keep his pension.  Retired Buffalo cop admits to excessive force in 2009 arrest of teensTo correct this injustice, it only takes a stroke of the pen from New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli to reinstate Officer Horne’s pension and repair this injustice.  To correct this injustice, it only takes a stroke of the pen from New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli to reinstate Officer Horne’s pension and repair this injustice. As Black Law Enforcement Professionals, we all know Officer Horne’s situation all too well. Black Officers who expose the corrupt and racist system of policing are all too often left alone from elected officials, organizations, and even the unions we pay our dues. When you do the right thing for the badge and the community, you are usually left on your own. Officer Cariol Horne did what we ask every good cop to do; stop a criminal act. Officer Horne did, the victim, Neal Mack, lives.  Please sign the petition; Let’s do the right thing for an Officer that did her job!

    Petition to Alberta

Alberta golf courses should receive an exemption from mandated business closures

Covid-19 has changed our way of life with nice weather just around the corner everyone will be asking what is essential and what is non-essential. Activities, where people are in close contact, is obviously dangerous. Golf however already takes social distancing into account. People are separated by 10-15 mins. In fact, the flow of individuals is more regulated at a golf course then people self-regulating in a grocery store.  A golf course can easily take payments online or over the phone, they can easily manage the execution of tee-offs, remotely. Closing beverage services, pro-shops, and restaurants would be a small price to pay for an industry that could be decimated by this pandemic.  There are very few activities we can do during this pandemic, golf happens to be one that is safe and manageable.

Petition to Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

Tell FDA to allow young woman with ALS to receive medicine before she dies!

25 year-old Jaci Hermstad was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ALS on the same day she lost her twin sister to the same form of ALS 8 years earlier! Now, an experimental drug that has already been manufactured and ready to go, is being withheld to perform more testing. This class of drug (antisense oligonucleotides) has been shown to be very safe in clinical studies and is a form of precision medicine, which means the drug will turn the gene off and not make the bad protein anymore. While this drug is personalized to her, the process will help others. This drug is believed to be a possible medical breakthrough for ALS!  We are petitioning for her to try it otherwise, she will die waiting for this testing to be performed!

Petition to Department of Veterans Affairs

Help Veteran with Cancer Caused by Serving our Country Receive VA Benefits

Here we are in 2019 and I had to reopen the petition for Dan Parks, because yet again the VA has failed this Veteran.  Dan went through the appeal process in the Summer of 2018.  However, at the end of 2018 Dan received a letter from the VA that stated they couldn’t find the transcript from his appeal.  This means he has to start over again for his disability benefits. News story on Dan’s appeal transcripts being lost -------------- Our family friend, Dan Parks, is a U.S. Navy veteran that fought throat cancer. He was discharged from the military, partially, to end his exposure to ionizing radiation during his work in a weapons and ammunition facility. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is denying his claim for disability benefits – despite letters from the VA’s own doctors stating that Dan’s exposure likely caused his cancer. Dan needs your help to get the VA to change their decision before it’s too late. Dan was stationed at Naval Submarine Base New London, where he worked with ordinance. During his time at the base, he was also exposed to ionized radiation. Fast-forward a few decades later and has Dan suffered from throat cancer. He now has to plug a hole in his throat to talk; a side effect of the cancer. Dan’s discharge paperwork from the Navy includes a stamp saying he was being discharged, in part, due to the radiation exposure. Multiple doctors with the VA have written letters saying there is a better than even chance that the cancer was caused by Dan’s radiation exposure during his time in the Navy. But the VA has denied his disability claim. The reason? They say there’s no proof he was exposed to radiation in the Navy. As Dan says, “If the VA won’t accept their own doctors, where does a veteran turn?” Dan’s been fighting for benefits for three years. He filed an appeal, but the VA won’t review it for another 18 months. Time is running out. He needs access to life-saving treatment before it’s too late. Please sign this petition calling on the VA to accept their own doctors’ assessments and grant Dan Parks needed health benefits due to the radiation exposure he endured while serving our country.
