A responsible Government & an equally aware & responsible society are the pillars of a truly great democratic country and it is the responsibility of both stakeholders to see that balance and trust is maintained.
When a geographical area or certain segment of the society feels discriminated by the government through its schemes or policies, it is unto the society to stand up, raise its voice, and be seen to fight against such events, actions and injustice.
Raichur, despite being one of the significant contributors to the growth of the industrial, agricultural, and power economy of Karnataka, Raichur despite being the rice grain bowl of Karnataka, Raichur despite having RTPS and YTPS which supplies more than 50% of the power requirements of Karnataka, Raichur despite being a land of Doab with good rail & road connectivity has been discriminated by successive state governments more often than not while addressing Medical, Educational, Industrial infrastructure creation while Kalaburagi has been favored in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
Recent examples are Airport, AIIMS allotment, and the allocation of various Medical & Educational institutions favoring Kalaburagi over Raichur.
The citizens of Raichur have sacrificed a lot over the years at severe health as well as the economic cost to themselves for having 2 Mega Coal-fired power stations which increase the heat as well as contributes greatly to environment & health hazards and also laying waste good agricultural lands through fly-ash pollution.
Despite such immense contributions and sacrifices, Raichur is not getting its due as the citizens are suffering hugely due to the Covid pandemic with just 1 RIMS hospital facility to cope with huge challenges caused by the pandemic destroying lives, families, and economics.
Boeing very recently announced its intentions to set up two super-specialty 250 bed covid hospitals with its own oxygen generating capability in the state of Karnataka and The Govt of Karnataka represented by its CM Mr.Yedurappa has requested the central Government & Boeing to set up one in Bengaluru and the second one under CSR at Kalaburagi.
Despite Kalaburagi having more than adequate medical infrastructure and about 1600 dedicated covid beds with 400 oxygenated beds as told by the district in-charge minister for Kalaburagi himself, while Raichur having just 250 covid beds and only 100 oxygenated beds, the CM still is favoring Kalaburagi at the cost of Raichur and its citizens.
This is grossly unfair that political and other conditions dictate such decisions and not rational or scientific facts. Since 2013, the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital is lying defunct and presently working under the management of RIMS at just 25% capacity. It has been advised by many committees and study research papers as well as institutions such as Niti Aayog, National Rural Health Mission, that the RGSSH needs to be renovated, financed, and made fully operational to serve the pressing needs of the citizens of Raichur as well as address quality health care requirements of the BPL families in numerous studies and publications since 2010, it has fallen on the deaf ears of the government who has not heeded to any of the recommendations or plea’s of the citizens of Raichur.
NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND RAISE OUR VOICE AGAINST THIS DISCRIMINATION BY THE STATE GOVERNMENT.
A PIL has been initiated to address this inequality and representations have been given to the elected representatives, MLA, MP, Dist In-charge Minister, Officials to request them to allow the Boeing Covid Hospital to Raichur instead of Kalaburagi as it will help mitigate the suffering of the citizens of Raichur as Raichur is desperately short of Medical facilities & Infrastructure and it will also cater to the long term benefit to the people of Raichur.
We, the people of Raichur need to come together and make our voice heard to the powers that be, we need to unite and show solidarity and we request you, the citizens of Raichur to sign this petition so that our voice may be heard by the people in charge and we usher in the progressive path to address this regional imbalance while fulfilling the desperate infrastructure needs of the district.
Please sign the petition and promote our voice with family & friends to support this cause.
