PETA Asia's unprecedented behind-the-scenes investigation – which was carried out in China, the source of 90 per cent of the world's angora fur – reveals that workers violently rip the fur out of rabbits' skin as the animals scream in pain. Rabbits who have their fur cut or sheared also suffer greatly: during the cutting process, their front and back legs are tightly tethered and the sharp cutting tools inevitably wound them as they struggle desperately to escape. Afterwards, the gentle, sensitive rabbits are left in shock, able only to lie motionless inside their tiny, filthy cages. After they endure the violent plucking or shearing of their fur every three months for two to five years, their throats are cut and their skin is torn from their bodies.
After corresponding with PETA Australia, dozens of Australian designers and retailers – including Aurelio Costarella, David Jones, Myer, George Wu, Carly Hunter, Paolo Sebastian, Alexi Freeman and Natasha Gan – have pledged not to use wool from angora rabbits in their designs and merchandise.
But executives at The Just Group – which owns Dotti, Portmans, Jay Jays, Just Jeans and other brands – have told PETA that the company will not be joining in this pledge and that they will continue to sell items made from angora wool, despite being made aware of the horrific abuse of angora rabbits in that industry.
Angora production is barbaric, and PETA needs your help to urge The Just Group to follow fashion industry leaders and show that cruelty to animals has no place in their business.

NGO investigations and EU audits carried out since 2010 have shown non-compliance with relevant EU requirements relating to animal welfare and traceability of horses in Argentina, Australia, Canada and Uruguay. Horses are systematically neglected and mistreated along the production chain of horsemeat. They are beaten, kicked and receive electric shocks. They are malnourished and exposed to extreme weather conditions in slaughterhouse pens and at assembly centres. Injured, sick and weak horses receive no veterinary care and are left to die unassisted. Currently, EU animal welfare requirements only apply to slaughterhouses. The assembly centres and transport are not covered by EU rules. Horses are transported over long distances without water, crammed together in unsuitable cattle trailers, and many do not survive the journey to the slaughterhouse.
For several years, NGOs have been providing evidence that the audits of the EU Commission and European importers are manipulated by horse dealers and slaughterhouse operators. For example, pregnant, injured, sick and emaciated horses are replaced or removed. The reports of the latest EU audits in Uruguay and Argentina state that the assembly centres were either empty or the horses had been exchanged shortly before the visit.
In the above-mentioned countries, horses are not considered to be food-producing animals and are commonly given drugs which are prohibited in the EU for use in horses destined for human consumption. The traceability systems in place are unreliable, as they rely on the honesty of horse owners and dealers, who give sworn declarations on the medical treatments in the six months prior to slaughter. In the EU, horses are microchipped and have a passport showing their medical history. In the export countries, they are tagged shortly before being sent to slaughter. Due to the lack of traceability, horses of unknown origin and with unclear drug history as well as stolen horses enter the food chain, which poses a high food safety risk for European consumers.
We call upon the European Commissioners Stella Kyriakides (DG SANTE) and Valdis Dombrovskis (DG Trade):
to remove Argentina, Australia, Uruguay and Canada from the list of third countries from which the import of horsemeat is permitted, since these countries cannot guarantee compliance with the applicable EU animal welfare requirements;
to require equivalent animal welfare standards in exporting countries – not only for slaughter but also for transport and assembly centres;
and to suspend any horsemeat imports from countries where the traceability system used solely relies on declarations of horse owners and dealers.
A suspension of horsemeat imports from Mexico and Brazil has already been imposed, as a result of EU audits in these countries. Audits carried out in Argentina, Australia, Canada and Uruguay identified very similar concerns regarding animal welfare and food safety.
Please help us to urge the European Commission to immediately suspend horsemeat imports from third countries that do not comply with applicable EU requirements, such as Argentina, Australia, Canada and Uruguay.

We never think twice when buying goods from Australia, even with the fine print 'Made in China'. Since many of us ignore this, we're neglecting the fact that our actions we take have become a desperation of grief and pain for animals. We have numerous laws applied in Australia about stopping animal cruelty, which has allowed us to help take care of the endangered animals and to stop abusing them. However, these laws do not apply in China.
China has not enforced any animal abuse laws which is why many of the items imported here have been tested on animals or made from animal skin. These disgusting and cruel acts are still being allowed, and the finished items are ending up on our shelves.
So the question is, why are we still allowing this? We need to change the way Australia runs, and the first step you can do is sign this petition. Let's stop the cruelty and stop using unethically sourced items. Start supporting local/Australian manufacturers. Read more

For so long, the narrative has told women and young impressionable girls that in order to be popular, have friends, to be desirable for the male gaze, and to some extent be a worthy human...that we must be thin.
The toxicity of this series, is bigger than just this one particular series. This is not an isolated case, but part of a much larger problem that I can promise you every single woman has faced in her life, sitting somewhere on the scale of valuing their worth on their bodies, to be desirable objects for the male gaze. That is exactly what this series does. It perpetuates not only the toxicity of diet culture, but the objectification of women's bodies.
This series needs to be cancelled. The damage control of releasing this series will be far worse, insidious and sinister for teenage girls, than it will be damaging for Netflix in their loss of profit.
The release is set to be the 10th of August, we still have time to stop this series from being released, and causing a devastation of self-doubt in the minds of young girls who will think that to be happy and be worthy, they need to lose weight.
This series will cause eating disorders, and perpetuate the further objectification of women's bodies. The trailer has already triggered people with eating disorders. Let's stop this, and protect further damage.Read more

So if you grew up in the 90s, you remember a lot of great children's book series. Goosebumps, Fear Street, the list goes on. And some of these series got tv shows, such as R.L. Stein's Goosebumps tv show that adapted some of his most famous children's books to equally freaky tv shows!
But you know what was the real mind-freak of children's fiction? The real sci-fi bender, the mind melt that made people, KIDS, think?
ANIMORPHS.
Aight, now that you've electronic device back in your hand after throwing it up like you've just heard "All I Do Is Win" on the radio while driving, relax while I educate those who have never read Animorphs.

So these five kids are going home from being out late. Not even high schoolers, they're in middle school. They cut through an abandoned construction site. This space ship appears, and a dying space alien stumbles out. Dude looks like a blue centaur (half man-half horse) with a long tail that has a wicked sharp blade on the end, and and top of his head are two eye stalks that give him 360 degree vision.
This space alien guy's species called the Andalites have been warring with this other species called Yeerks. Basically the Andalites started travelling space and made friends with different species. They found the Yeerks, these sentient slug species who could walk the face of their planet by crawling into the ear cavities of the local bipedal species, sinking into their brains, and controlling their bodies. Yeah, that don't sound like a plan for peace lol
So inevitably, these Andalites and Yeerks go to war. And there's this one super-weapon that the Yeerks want off the Andalites. The Morphing Cube. One touch of this cube, and you are granted the ability to gain the dna of any living being, animal, human, or space alien. And by absorbing the DNA of that being, you can now become a replica of that being. Touch a tiger? Become a tiger. Touch a bear? Become a bear. Touch a hawk? Become a hawk. This power applies to all living species. Only drawback? If you stay in form for over two hours, you become trapped in that form, injuries and all.
So the Andalite tells these five middle schoolers this, and urges them to take the power to use it to fight the Yeerks, who already have a small foothold on the Earth. The kids reluctantly do it, and quickly too, because one of the big Yeerk bosses is coming to take the cube, and kill the Andalite.
As a ship comes down from the sky, the kids skeedaddle, and hide the cube in the construction site. They then hide out and watch as one of the Yeerk leaders, who had risen to prominence by gaining the body of an Andalite, comes to finish off the Andalite who just gave the kids this cube. Dude morphs into a giant creature, and proceeds to eat the Andalite.
Aight you people who already knew this. Welcome back.
So you dig? You get this now? I just set up ONLY HALF of the first episode. And this could be the first episode of a Netflix series that could easily span five seasons in a tv series, and eight canon movies.
I ask you, the reader of this post, to help make this possible. To present this petition to Netflix would be a great achievement. When we make this possible, Animorphs can join other great Netflix original series such as Marvel's Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Daredevil. We can join other great movies and shows based off of award winning books such as Beasts of No Nation, Orange is the New Black, and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
