    Petition to Department of Justice

Receive Justice for this Racially motivated conviction

On October 2, 2020. Eric Devon Wilson Jr was sentenced to 62 years in prison. You are probably thinking He must have committed some heinous murder? NOPE no murder at all! Had to be a robbery conviction? NOPE no robbery! Must have been a major drug offender right? Nope no drugs involved at all. He had to have an extensive violent/criminal history? Nope had only had one charge as an adult years prior and was not a violent charge. Okay so now someone must have been badly injured right? Absolutely not, there was not one single injury during this alleged crime. This is a ridiculous absurd sentencing and it shows that there was a hidden agenda behind the case. The judge that resided over the case had already been tied to a racial page and denied allegation that she was involved, The detective on the case had a vendetta against this young man because of something he believed the young man was involved in 6 years earlier that he couldn’t prove, so he got witnesses to get on the stand and lie under oath. One witness which was familiar with the defendant and had previously called his father claiming that the detective was forcing her to lie on the stand in order to drop all charges against her related to this crime. The prosecutor on the case also had a vendetta against the young man as he had picked up a cellphone as a child which belonged to her, something that a lot of kids could do. He took it to trial because he had faith in the justice system and didn’t feel like the system would let him down, however the conspiracy and people in a position of power prevailed and were aloud to sentence him to this absurd amount of time, when no murderer had ever been given this kind of sentence. May it also be noted that no one was even injured during the course of this alleged crime! The victim they claimed he shot at, was a friend of his whom testified that he did not believe the defendant was the one whom shot at him because he couldn’t think of any reason he would have shot at him, as they were friends and had never had any problem. One of the witnesses that testified against the defendant after being offered immunity, had been a codefendant along with her son, so she had every reason to lie on this young man. I ask that every stand up for the racial injustice of this young man, this is beyond unreasonable and we need an appeal. Please and thank you.

Urge police officers to condemn bigotry and racially motivated brutality

We urge all law enforcement officers and leaders throughout the nation to be among the leading voices to end the cycle of violence against our brothers and sisters of color. We appreciate and support you, we acknowledge that you routinely put your own safety at risk in order to protect us, and we understand your instinct to be protective and defensive of your fellow officers. The fact that our laws offer harsher penalties for murderers of police officers should provide you with the assurance that we value your lives a great deal. It’s painful enough when innocent citizens are senselessly brutalized by bigots and vigilantes as was the case with Maud Arbery in February. It is absolutely devastating when the brutality occurs at the hands of those who have sworn to protect and serve us. As you put your own lives at risk, you are all entitled to protect yourselves, but when it so blatantly crosses the line, as was the case with George Floyd, it must be universally condemned. So, we respectfully ask you to:1. Be a leading voice in condemning excessive force or violence towards ALL citizens;2. Irrespective of the code within your brotherhood/sisterhood, to shun the bigots within your own ranks, as they cannot be trusted to protect everyone equally, and they must leave the law enforcement profession by choice, or otherwise, in order to help our nation heal. We, as citizens, must demonstrate our support of you, and in turn, you must unequivocally and loudly proclaim your support for the rights of ALL citizens!#BlackLivesMatter

    Justice for Gregory Johnson, Jr.

Gregory Johnson Jr. was the only black member who was living in the house of his fraternity Sigma Chi, a fraternity with a racist history, in 2008. On November 22nd, 2008, he was found hanged and dead in their basement. SJSU PD reported the death was a suicide and said his death was caused by ligature hanging. Gregory has a crack on the back of his head that indicated he had suffered from blunt force trauma, which was leaking brain matter that his parents saw when they were able to see his body. Pictures of his body taken by his parents do not show scars on his neck that support a death by ligature hanging; in fact, there are no marks on his neck, despite the autopsy report reporting marks on his neck. He had evidence on his body, including a broken neck, that showed proof of being beaten. Gregory had no indications of being suicidal, had no history of any mental illness, and left no suicide note. Gregory stood at 6 feet and 2 inches, whereas the pipe was only 5 feet and 10 inches above the ground. SJSU, UPD, and Sigma Chi still rule his death a suicide and have insisted that his parents not pursue the case anymore because of the statute of limitations set on suicide cases. Police reports were inconsistent and police did not pursue the case even though there was a flurry of many details that were inconsistent and suspicious. Conveniently, no Sigma Chi members had seen Gregory hang himself, and none of them saw anything except for the member who allegedly found his body hanging in the basement. Gregory’s parents were denied seeing their son’s body for 13 days because fraternity members had identified his body. When his parents arrived at the frat house, the fraternity had already taken the crime scene tape down and cleaned the basement and disinfected it using Pine-Sol (as allowed by police). Gregory's belongings had been tampered with, and pictures from his phone had been deleted. The FBI eventually took over the case, investigating it as a hate crime, and it stopped in Washington D.C. at the desk of then-Attorney General Eric Holder, with no explanation as to why it was dropped. His family and the public have never had access to the full police report, nor the FBI investigation report. No arrests have been made, and it is widely suspected that SJSU and UPD worked together to cover up his murder in order to avoid a bad reputation for the school, which has also had a history of racism within the school (ie., Sigma Chi in Trump memorabilia Spring 2019, a Nazi swastika in Joe West Dorm Hall, and anti-immigration flyers posted around campus in the 2019-2020 school year). Sigma Chi was also suspended in the mid 1960s for discriminatory actions, and clearly they are still racist, making Johnson’s death as the only black member of the fraternity living in the house at the time even more suspicious. Sigma Chi is an old, established fraternity throughout the college systems in the United States, with many members being from rich, powerful, and influential families. The people demand that the statute of limitations is put aside and the case is reopened in order to serve justice for Gregory Johnson and to finally punish his murderers, the members of Sigma Chi during the time of his death. Gregory Johnson’s parents have waited 12 years for justice and closure, and we the people demand that they do not have to wait any longer. ***DO NOT DONATE TO CHANGE.ORG!
