On January 15, 2020, Mubarak Soulemane suffered a schizophrenic episode and had knowingly been reported missing by his brother that day. For everyone who has a loved one who struggles with schizophrenia, you know that the mind of a schizophrenic is jarring and dark which leads them to behave in peculiar ways. On this particular day, that was the case for Mubarak when he pulled a pocket knife out at a store and carjacked. It is important to note that the police were familiar with his illness and were aware that he had a pocket knife. However, instead of de-escalating the situation, providing emergency service, and giving Mubarak the care that he needed, the State Police and the West Haven Department barricaded him in the car which is when State Trooper Brian North proceeded to take a military approach and emptied his gun out on him (7 bullets). Per the dashcam footage released, Mubarak was sitting in the driver seat of a car, seatbelt on, with a closed window and not threatening the officer, and yet he lost his life that day. I want to emphasize that my brother had a mental illness that he should have received care for and that my family had made them aware of prior to his murder. Mubarak Soulemane should still be alive today which is why we need accountability to be taken.

We demand significant charges be pressed against State Trooper Brian North for brutally murdering Mubarak Soulemane.
We demand that all officers involved in this racist murder be held accountable. The West Haven police officers who were present during the murder of Mubarak Soulemane did nothing to prevent this senseless act of violence from occurring and are therefore complicit. The Norwalk police officers did not communicate effectively with other police officers on the scene, and their negligence contributed to escalating the situation that resulted in the murder of Mubarak Soulemane.
In addition, we demand police dollars to go into community infrastructures instead (ie. schools, parks, social work, etc)Read more

This election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump had two very different visions for America. One where we work together and be unified and another where we become divided. A Trump presidency is one that this country cannot afford especially with all the economic progress we have made and also with the tough decisions that will need to be made such as with the situation in the Middle East. Someone who files bankruptcy over 5 times and loses almost 1 billion dollars in one year is not good with business. Why do you think every economist has over and over again looked at Trump's economic and tax policy and have concluded that he would add $13 trillion to our national debt, kill over 3 million jobs, and cause one of the worst economic disasters in history. Not to mention all the contractors and investors that lost money with business deals involving Trump. Someone who is also a billionaire should not have to go to the evil extent to scam over 6000 people with a fake university that people in some cases paid over $30,000. New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman even called what he did illegal. Especially when for the past several years, he has been receiving middle class tax cuts from the New York STAR program which gives tax breaks to family's that make $500,000 a year of less. Another reason why he won't release his tax returns even when the IRS has said over and over that just because there is an audit, it doesn't restrict him from releasing them.Trump this whole time was always saying the election was going to be rigged but he never said against him. He has cheated people his whole life and with his track record and how close the voting was in many states, he could have done it here too. Every single ballot in each state needs to be recounted to ensure that this truly was a fair outcome because with how Hillary Clinton was leading in virtually every poll and the very recent things Trump has come under fire for, it has left many not understanding how it adds up.
