Help change road maintenance safety barriers  to animal safe barriers with completely enclosed bottom panels which will avoid hedgehogs and other wildlife falling into road maintenance holes and becoming injured or dying as a result. I run a hedgehog rescue at my home and have had many hedgehogs found in such holes in the ground come into rescue with nails worn down in their frantic efforts to get out. The saddest and most recent case is a female who had fallen into a rain filled hole and had near drowned before being found. It is not known how long she had been in the hole but she was suffering with hypothermia and total exhaustion when she arrived at the rescue. A week after being in rescue she gave birth to at least 2 hoglets but the trauma she had suffered resulted in her loosing her hoglets. We need to protect our precious hedgehogs and new design barriers could save many lives and is a really simple change but with  huge benefit.Read more

Petition to Stanford University, Department of Education, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Alex Padilla
MY CURRENT SITUATION:A few months ago, I was accepted into my dream school, Stanford University. At first, I felt like I was on top of the world. Just when I thought that the battle was over and that I could delve into my dreams at last, I realized that I might not be able to attend. The same story that befell me in prior years was going to consume my life again: Stanford University is unwilling to provide me access to a scribe for assignments deeming my necessity as a “personal preference.” Despite being an institution with billions of dollars, with enough resources to easily provide me with the needed accommodations, Stanford still negates its responsibility to do so, thus representing a blockade in my future endeavors. Simply put, I would be unable to attend Stanford and achieve my goals without the assistance of a scribe, as work will be impossible to complete for a boy who can not write. This petition represents the voice of the silenced and the continuous fight for accessibility. Around the country, thousands of disabled students fight for the right to attend college. My story coincides with this battle, and it is before you now. MORE ABOUT ME:When I was born, doctors dubbed me a ‘miracle child’. During my birth, complications arose, and I suffered massive brain damage. The umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck while my mother pushed me out, and I choked to death. For ten minutes, my heart stopped, and the doctors rushed to revive me. After a subsequent miracle, my fetal body was fading between life and death. I responded to no touch, sound, and was in a completely vegetative state. I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy along with epilepsy, which are both neurological disorders that affect my ability to access my environment. Doctors told my mother that my brain damage would never heal, and I would be stuck in a vegetative state for the rest of my life. I would depend on them for all of my basic needs and never live a normal life. Luckily, I was born determined to change my fate. Throughout my entire childhood, I endured thousands of hours of therapy. I had no real childhood as my disability isolated me from others. It was hard for other kids to understand why I could not talk or move like them. However, I never let the fire inside me smolder. This inner fire guided me throughout my academic career as I frequently struggled to receive the proper accommodations I needed. Perpetuous battles about obtaining a scribe started in elementary school and have been consistent ever since. Teachers consistently congratulate me on my intelligence; however, I would fall behind because of my inability to write. My motor difficulties were never an excuse to underperform or give up on any task and in high school, I became a figure of purpose, hope, and advocacy for my cohort. HOW YOU CAN HELP:Please sign this petition and illustrate that this behavior is unacceptable. Financial incentives should never overcast humanistic values. Share this petition with more friends personally or via social media. If you are a current Stanford student or staff member, please share this with your Stanford community. Thank you.  Read more

Petition to National congress of Brazil
Venezuela faces political, economic and institutional chaos. The country has gone through instabilities in government since 2013, inflation, shortages, violence, political persecution, low wages and lack of opportunities in the country are the biggest problems. And that is why many Venezuelans try to flee to Brazil in search of a better life, but it is very difficult to improve the life of a refugee. Brazil had an excellent strategy for applying the interiorization process, which was very successful and emptied the shelters at the borders. Housing is not the biggest problem, what they really need is education, especially for their children. There are approximately 9,583 vulnerable children and 8,306 of school age. What also worries the Brazilian authorities is the number of children who arrive unaccompanied, from August 2018 to June 2019, almost 400 children arrived in Brazil totally unaccompanied and another 1,499 came separated from their parents... The only hope of building a life best is through education, so you can get a job and support yourself. A woman was going through a crisis in Venezuela and later fled to Brazil to seek help because she had many children and some of them were malnourished. She had to pay 36,000 bolivars each and couldn't pay, so she had to ask for help because of the situation, her children hadn't eaten, but a man said she would give up two chairs. She came on a bus with two seats and five children, one on top of the other. And that's how the Castañeda family arrived in Brazil. This is an example of many families trying to escape the chaos in Venezuela, so we must help. Education is essential for human growth and development and the purpose of this petition is to support and encourage quality education for Venezuelan refugees.Read more

Obesity and related illnesses cost the NHS and the British taxpayer  £5.1billion pounds last year. Nearly 10% of children in their first year at school in England are obese and 1 in 5 children in year 6 are obese and the figure is rising at an alarming rate.  It is recognised that the influence of junk food being marketed for children has a massive impact and it needs to stop. Measures to put a stop on these advertisements being broadcast before the watershed needs to happen right now. I am a catering Manager for a Primary Academy in West Yorkshire and have welcomed the Governments introduction of the Universal Free School Meals. My team have worked very hard to get our children to eat a healthy, balanced, nutritious meal and Guess what? It's working. The children are eating fresh, home cooked food every day and loving it. To see their little faces light up when they see What's on offer, makes my job worth while.  BUT!!!! It's been broadcast that it is going to stop!!! The Government want to reap back some money and unfortunately it looks like it is coming from our children's plate. So obesity will keep rising, children will still watch all the junk food adverts and fill their tummies with rubbish, Dentists will keep pulling out teeth (that's if you can find a dentist as they are very over stretched) surgeons will keep trying to save lives (some will be our children's lives) the NHS costs will keep rising and the UK Tax payer will keep Paying more and more.  One of the most saddening aspects of all this is, if this continues, statistically we could outlive our Children. That is a harrowing thought.  Please sighn this pertition to save our UNIVERSAL INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEALS.   Read more

People feeding people is one of the great joys of the human race, no culture, religion, ethnicity or race will ever deny the happiness of cooking for you family, friends and community. Across the country, thousands of local restaurant owners and employees are unsure of what the future holds, the gig economy is dependent on in real life interaction and relies on tips to survive. For privately owned restaurants several weeks of closure could prove devastating, I am asking that the government provide a financial hardship package for the thousands of small businesses and workers who could possibly be out of business for several weeks. This includes: -Emergency Healthcare for workers and their children  -Emergency unemployment benefits, for employees of restaurants that are forced to close, available immediately to workers that rely on tips to survive  -Small business bailouts and/or 0% interest loans provided to privately owned restaurants that will cover their losses of lost product and the pay of salaried  employees  -Income assistance for workers in restaurants that may stay open, in case they are forced to stay home because they are sick or because they cannot provide child care  15 million Americans work in the hospitality industry, we are the people feeding people, but unfortunately we do not have the option to work from home, the work may stop, but the bills will not, I am asking that you provide the relief that we need. Thank you, Katie Pollins Restaurant worker, USARead more
