I, as a concerned citizen and a responsible driver with a clean license for over 11 years, am deeply troubled by the current state of speed limits on our roads. It is evident that these speed limits are not solely in place to ensure public safety but rather serve as revenue generators for local authorities. This profit-driven approach is not only unjust but also causing more harm than good.In my personal experience, I have recently received an astonishing five speeding tickets within just three days. Two of these tickets were issued mere seconds apart from each other. This excessive ticketing not only burdens law-abiding citizens like myself but also creates frustration and congestion on our roads as more drivers avoid certain routes altogether.Furthermore, it is disheartening to witness the presence of cones on various roads without any ongoing construction work for years. These misleading cones catch drivers off guard and result in unnecessary penalties that do nothing to enhance road safety.The situation becomes even more alarming when we consider major highways such as the M5 and M4. These highways have witnessed a surge in accidents due to sudden braking caused by frequent speed cameras placed every 300 meters. Instead of promoting safe driving practices, this constant change in speed limit enforcement has become a hazard itself.It is imperative that we address this issue urgently and demand fairer regulations that prioritize public safety over revenue generation:1. Conduct an independent review: We call upon relevant authorities to conduct an impartial review of current speed limits across all road types to ensure they are based on accurate data and designed with public safety as the primary goal.2. Implement consistent enforcement measures: Speed cameras should be strategically placed at locations where accidents are most likely to occur rather than being used excessively within short distances solely for revenue purposes.3. Our world is facing a plastic crisis. Plastic is everywhere and in everything. It’s in Arctic ice, every fish tested in the Great Lakes, beluga whales, seabirds and the food we eat. Plastics have been found on the seafloor and even in ocean breeze.
22 million kilograms of plastic leaks into the ocean every day – roughly equivalent to dumping a garbage truck full of plastic into the oceans every minute. This is devastating our planet. Whales, dolphins, sea turtles and other marine life are dying. The health of the ocean is in peril.
To make matters worse, the volume of plastic waste is expected to increase four times by 2050. Canada is part of the problem but can also be part of the solution. Canadians want a future with plastic-free choices.
The federal government has committed to reducing single-use plastics to stop the flow of this toxic waste into the oceans. If the government fails to act, the oceans will continue to drown in plastic. We must act now to ensure Canada implements a national ban on unnecessary single-use plastics.

This petition is the result of the backlash building against Texas Toll Roads. For 20 years. The State of Texas has allowed and encouraged the development of a complicated, abusive and convoluted Toll Road infrastructure. Arguably "negligent" legislation, enacted by lawmakers in Austin has enabled regional toll operators to "create" their own, individual operating regulations - many of which are unique to each regional toll system. This "lack of control and regulation" has directly resulted in a Toll Road System that is ABUSIVE to citizens.
The operating structure of the Toll Road System across the entire State of Texas MUST change. Current state laws do not adequately regulate Toll Road Operations or protect citizens from the "pitfalls" of the current laws, regulations and operating nature of Toll Infrastructure.
The result - True harm is coming to Texas citizens in the form of egregious fines, harassment, loss of driving privileges, an inability to register vehicles, arrests financial abuse and other circumstances that are due, not because Texans are outlaws trying to abuse the Toll system but instead, caused directly by the lack of proper regulation and oversight to prevent a Toll System that is NOT citizen Friendly.
There is a general consensus among ALL Texans is that lawmakers are turning a blind eye to the facts presented to them. They are unwilling to address the pleas of the people and the people feel helpless and violated.
There is no charter within the Texas Constitution enabling or allowing our government to create, encourage and operate a mode of transportation that is incompatible with the Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution.

Therefore, we the people of the state of Texas are informing you, our elected officials, that the Current system of the Toll Road Infrastructure in Texas is NOT operating in a mode that is strictly beneficial to the citizens of Texas. Instead, lawmakers have created a system fraught with abusive, corrupt, unethical and Unconstitutional practices. These abuses and non-beneficial practices have repeatedly been presented to State Lawmakers who have ignored us, refused to listen to us and failed to act in accordance with the very charter of your office under the State Constitution.
TOLL ROADS ARE NOT CITIZEN FRIENDLY!
We the people DEMAND that State legislators listen to, and address the litany of Unconstitutional, Unethical, abusive and non-beneficial "causes" of Unrest surrounding Toll Roads in Texas.

As an elected official, you have a responsibility to sensibly look out for the best interests of the people, to act in a manner that is in accordance with the best interests of the People and therefore, to correct the egregious operating concerns outlined herein.
