Realistic government financial support for self-employed

Government support for self-employed (Coronavirus) is insufficient & unfair. It will not cover ongoing business costs. Self-employed will not be able to cover costs, eg mortgages, vehicles, machinery, rents. Gov. must be realistic & realise without support self-employed “small businesses” will fail. This petition requests the government treat self employed the same as employed staff & guarantee to fund 80% of their income up to £2,500 per month, based on historic tax returns. This will allow the self-employed sector to see this through & bounce back when it is over.Government support for self-employed (Coronavirus) is insufficient & unfair. COVID-19 Massage Therapist Financial Hardship Relief

Federal Aid Package for Massage Therapy Industry Across the country, the need for social distancing has impacted many industries. One industry in particular stands at high risk for both economic catastrophe AND infection, and that is the community of massage therapists.  Many licensed massage therapists are self-employed, and rely on clients' appointment fees to pay both business and personal bills. Our families are facing a long list of economic catastrophes: losing our homes, retirements, extreme debt/bankruptcy, inability to provide food for our children and/or pay for much needed health insurance.  Cancellations, rescheduled appointments, and loss of child care during this novel coronavirus outbreak {COVID-19}  are cause of grave concern to all who work in the massage therapy business as incomes plummet. Fear, anger and dread are being felt by all as our families begin to understand the monumental cost to help save our nation from the spread of the virus.   There is already no paid time off/sick leave for self-employment, so many are forced to choose between potential bankruptcy or struggling to remain open, which puts the community as a whole at risk for infection. The very nature of our industry is close contact, in small studio spaces, where despite using our above-average knowledge of sanitation practices, we are exposed to airborne transmission with every possible cough or sneeze from our clientele. Any massage therapist infected with COVID-19 has the ability to transmit the infection quickly to his or her full book of clients on every given day, even before symptoms arise. The need for an Economic Hardship package is immediate and should include the following;  -Emergency Medicaid Health insurance for those who are uninsured  -$100 billion in government-backed, low interest loans, to help support the the self-employment income that is disappearing  AND -Equal relief/aid funding of self-employed massage therapists, as we are not covered under the current proposed relief bills being voted on at the Federal level We the undersigned plead with our elected officials to hear our warnings and cries for help as we not only see our own economic plight but also the sacrifice of our livelihoods as we struggle to keep our communities healthy.  Respectfully,  Leslie Titus, Sole Practioner  Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist

Financial relief for Minnesota's small businesses

Minnesota's small businesses need your help. We’re acting responsibly as part of the overall effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, as well as following the orders to shut down our establishments. We’re reminding our employees to protect themselves, and we’re doing everything we can to be good members of the Minneapolis and Minnesota community. But we need your help. Our businesses are all notoriously low margin, and many of our employees are living paycheck to paycheck. Many of us are going above and beyond to pay benefits to employees even if they aren’t working; we’re urging our employees to apply for unemployment compensation. We need help from the City and the State to stay afloat, we need an assistance program put in place to help out our hourly and salaried staff. An immediate step that the State and City could take to provide relief is to allow small businesses to keep their sales and use tax, which otherwise would be due March 20. That money could be more effectively deployed to help local businesses and their employees stay afloat in this time of need. Please – step up and help us protect this community.

Petition to Australian federal government, Scott Morrison, Josh Frydenberg, Michaelia Cash

COVID-19. More effective Sole Trader financial support (in Australia).

Dear Mr Morrison, I think you forgot something in your recent stimulus package. My question - is there a way for the Govt. to help Sole Trader businesses survive a quarantine period? Sole Traders make up well over one million of the total number of business owners in Australia. *ABS most recent stats 2015 *97.4% of all business in Australia are small businesses. *Very small businesses are much more likely to cease trading over time than larger firms. Only 55.9% of non-employing businesses and 68.0% of micro-businesses operating in June 2010 were still operating four years later in June 2014. This compares with a survival rate of 76.9% for small businesses employing between 5 and 19 employees, 81.4% for medium sized firms and 83.7% for large firms. *There were 1.3 million sole trader, non employing businesses in Australia. *Non-employing businesses accounted for 62.3% of all small businesses, micro-businesses employing accounted for 27.9% and businesses with 5 to 19 employees accounted for 9.8% So running a sole trader business that has longevity is a huge challenge PRE coronavirus. My business has already lost $1,000's of its most profitable income through cancellation of weekend events from the fires/floods and this is set to rise to $10-15k for the year as more events are being cancelled because of Coronavirus. Just had three full big weekends of work cancelled end of March and April and May. This weekend work is on top of a 12 hour day, Mon-Fri week. Keep in mind for these types of extremely small businesses there can be little or no provision for: - sick or carers leave, no holiday pay or super- zero income for two weeks Loans/mortgages/rent will still need to be paid Insurances and fees still need to be paid Utility costs still need to be paid Business vehicle running costs Dead (stock already purchased not being sold) or lost stock as a result of spoilage or just no sales If I had to self isolate or be forced to isolate for 14 days (as they are in Italy) I'd go out of business. We run week to week on cash flow. If we don't hit our daily target we go backwards, with no real chance of catching up. Except by way of events at weekends, which are now all but cancelled. Mr Morrison, I am just one sole trader (ST) from 1.3 million+ non employment sole traders in Australia, but this is my reality. Concerned? We all should be. Australia and this example is a micro image of the 1st World right now.
