Boots - review the sexist pricing of everyday products

Boots CEO, Simon Roberts: Review your sexist pricing! £9.99 for eye cream for women, but £7.29 for men. £2.29 for 8 women's razors, £1.49 for a pack of 10 for men. A visit to any Boots store and it's plain as day on the British high street that women are being ripped off. So-called 'women's products' are more expensive - from razors to moisturising creams. Women already buy things that men don't have to buy, like make up, hair products and tampons which are taxed as luxuries, plus we earn less than men on average across our lifetimes. Now to top it all off, research has proven what any woman who has ever been inside a hair salon already knew: women pay more than men for the same stuff. An investigation by The Times found that women are being charged 36% more on average for products marketed as ‘women’s products’. The Fawcett Society describe this as a sexist surcharge for women - and I think that’s exactly what this is. It's time this changed -- starting with Boots. Boots is one of the leading high street retailers. They often sell own-brand products at much higher prices to women when there are only minor differences in the product. The fact that these are own-brand products is what makes it really unfair – they don’t have to overcharge you, they simply choose to. Boots should lead the way by announcing a review of their pricing of women's toiletries and make a commitment to charge men and women fairly. These varying prices struck me most when I first had my hair cut very short. Since then, every visit to the hairdressers has cost me £45 in a salon which charges men just £25. I am being charged substantially more just because I am a woman. Now this research has been published, it’s plain to see that this practice is everywhere, especially in products in which the only discernible difference is if they’ve made the packaging pink or not – such as razors and moisturiser. Sure, I could just choose to buy the product marketed at men, but not all women realise that this is even an option. We are led to believe by the branding and pricing that there is a huge difference in product, but for the most part, that simply isn’t true. It is the responsibility of the retailer to stop trying to trick us into buying more expensive products for their own financial gain. If customers come together and say we don't want to pay extra any more, we can make them listen to us. We've challenged the tax on tampons - now it's time to challenge high street prices. If you agree sign the petition, and let's stop sexist pricing! Petition to City waste management

Promote the use of recycle materials in everyday living.

It is not new to everyone that the earth we are living now is polluted due to improper waste disposal. Because of lives existed in the earth affected a lot. Having knowledge and application of proper waste disposal will have a great impact in the extension of earth life as well as human life. When waste is disposed of properly ,it helps to prevent additional pollution which can improve public health. Also whether you sell goods or services ,everything you produce has a life cycle .It begins with how you manufacture ,distribute ,use and then reuse or recycle that product .       Recycling is one of the best ways for us. to have a positive impact on the world in which we live.We must act fast as the amount of waste we create is increasing all the time.It is good for environment ,since we are making new product from the old products which are of no use to us.We should recycle to make environment clean also to reduce garbage in landfills.        At the present situation , our beloved earth needs to be rescued and recycling also can save us from an environmental catastrophe. We have to protect our earth, so we can enjoy it.Earth is our home and it's time for us to appreciate, love, and respect it.

Petition to National Highways Authority of India, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, Nitin Gadkari, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Manohar Lal

Bleeding NH-8 alongwith Kherki Daula Gurgaon Toll Plaza robbing passengers everyday

We want to address 2 critical issues with this petition. 1. It’s very common to observe pedestrians  jumping from divider fencing and crossing highway every day. It causes a lot of casualties and economic loss to the passengers of NH-8. There are lack of pedestrian arrangements across the stretch of Manesar Toll. It’s called highway but we can hardly find any Patrolling Vehicle, which could stop pedestrians from jumping fence. We are paying toll taxes for the maintenance and road safety. But it’s not being utilized for the same purpose. We are using this highway at our own risk.   2. Kherki Daula Gurgaon Toll is mandatory to reach companies in IMT Manesar using NH-8 from Gurgaon. There are 3 dedicated lane of Passtag / Fastag, which are always choked due to lack of systematic approach and poor use of technology. Whereas CASH lane is always moving, but time taken to pass Tag lanes is much longer. Instead of improving the system of these lanes, we could observe the increase in number of goons in Toll uniform, who misbehave and threaten us every time, we pass this toll plaza. We have heard many times, that this toll is going to be shifted from present location. But it seems that it is just a news, without any action taken on the same. Request the Toll users to support this petition, so that our daily pain can be reduced and we feel safe while passing from NH-8.

Petition to The administrative staff of Bowen Secondary School

The approval to wear "half uni" in school everyday for student's comfort and health

As a student of Bowen Secondary School, I find myself to be in great guilt when I see my fellow schoolmates complaining and suffering in the hands of the new uniform rules. There are problems concerned in the recent changes and this article intends to address them and give a solution in the form of the old "half u". The problems are as follows. The hot, tropical climate of Singapore causes students to sweat a large quantity. The uniform/polo-shirt accentuates this effect, leading to discomfort.. Body odor is made more prominant when in uniform/polo-shirt.. More laundry has to be done.. The ladies have to wear two layers of clothing which can be quite cumbersome.. Health issues related to heat stroke The problems above are examples and there are many complaints to be had over this matter. The arguement to be had is that students have abused the system, leading to the removal of "half uni". But, is the chances of a student showing up for examinations in "half u" not lower than a student showing up for Monday morning assembly in polo-shirt? Another problem arises, which I agree with. Should the relinquishment of the current rule be taken into effect, it would put those who already bought the polo-shirt in an awkward position. This is bad for those who are in a not ideal financial situation. A solution for them is to provide a refund if they have bought it. For the other students, cca and class shirts may be subsidised as compensation. Uniforms serve the purpose of providing formality in class. Classes ought to be conducted in a formal manner, creating a conducive environment for learning. School attire in general, is the representation of a school's ideals, values and pride. However, there comes a tine when symbolism and practicality must be weighed and balanced. The new rule has upset this balance. Why must a simple shirt cause problems the "half uni" fixes? Lessons must be conducted formally, but why must we allow defence of our pride be our downfall? When has it been attacked? The polo shirt is generally met with harsh criticism. It has been cited as ugly, useless, expensive. I agree with the student body. I think the polo shirt should be repurposed for other uses. There comes a time when a man must fight for what he believes is right. I humbly request that the administrative staff of Bowen Secondary School view this proposition with careful consideration. My fellow schoolmates and I truly believe that this is a cause worth supporting. To you, the student who thinks this is nothing but hopeless, I urge you to join us. We must band in camraderie to fight. You may not feel strong by yourself. But, let the weakness of an individual be the strength of a legion. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all students are created equal and that we are endowed with certain unalienable rights, among which is the pursuit of happiness and liberty. A decent respect to the opinions of students require that they should declare their problems that causes them unhappiness, that which makes us suffer in silence. I rest my case.
