Petition to citizens of Hutto
We have 1.5 years left of Mayor Doug Gaul in our good city of Hutto. Honestly I do not feel that he deserves to be trusted one minute longer with Hutto's well being. He has kept secrets from us, told us lies and protected Odis back. He does not have the good people of Hutto in his concerns as a good Mayor should. There has been way too much money gone missing on his watch as our Mayor. I do not trust him and feel that the citizens of Hutto deserve a Mayor that is here for the concerns and well being of his/her city. Someone who is honest and does not run away with his tail between his legs when asked the tough questions. I ask you citizens of Hutto to show your support and stand firm and be HEARD. It is time we have change. Water prices raising 33 percent, house taxes through the roof. Hutto is a beautiful city that soon we will not be able to afford to live in with our families. Bad choices and decisions made under this mans watch. Good wishes to a city manager that bankrupted us and we paid 500,000 to leave Hutto. Doug Gaul I ask you to resign. Hutto citizens I ask you to sign this petition showing your support.  It takes a village to make a change, I am proud to have you all in mine. We will not be quiet anymore. Read more

Federal Aid Package for Massage Therapy & Cosmetology Industry Across the country, the need for social distancing has impacted many industries. One industry in particular stands at high risk for both economic catastrophe AND infection, and that is the community of beauty workers- LMT, estheticians, cosmetologists, etc.  Many licensed beauty & body  workers are self-employed, and rely on clients' appointment fees to pay both business and personal bills. Our families are facing a long list of economic catastrophes: losing our homes, retirements, extreme debt/bankruptcy, inability to provide food for our children and/or pay for much needed health insurance.  Cancellations, rescheduled appointments, and loss of child care during this novel coronavirus outbreak {COVID-19}  are cause of grave concern to all who work in the beauty business as incomes plummet. Fear, anger and dread are being felt by all as our families begin to understand the monumental cost to help save our nation from the spread of the virus.   There is already no paid time off/sick leave for self-employment, so many are forced to choose between potential bankruptcy or struggling to remain open, which puts the community as a whole at risk for infection. The very nature of our industry is close contact, often in small studio spaces, where despite using our above-average knowledge of sanitation practices, we are exposed to airborne transmission with every possible cough or sneeze from our clientele. Any beauty worker infected with COVID-19 has the ability to transmit the infection quickly to his or her full book of clients on every given day, even before symptoms arise. The need for an Economic Hardship package is immediate and should include the following;  -Emergency Medicaid Health insurance for those who are uninsured  -$100 billion in government-backed, low interest loans, to help support the the self-employment income that is disappearing  AND -Equal relief/aid funding of self-employed beauty workers, as we are not covered under the current proposed relief bills being voted on at the Federal levelWe the undersigned plead with our elected officials to hear our warnings and cries for help as we not only see our own economic plight but also the sacrifice of our livelihoods as we struggle to keep our communities healthy.    Respectfully,  Susan Bishop, LMT & Owner of Swampscott Massage Spa LLC, MA courtesy of,Kristin Snyder, Salon Owner and Licensed Cosmetologist- Michigan   Read more

Petition to Robert Menendez, Cory A. Booker, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Donald J. Trump, Michelle Obama, DA Mike Freeman, Mayor Jacob Frey, Nancy Pelosi, Charles E. Schumer, James Beach
Over this past decade, we have seen numerous police killings and brutality—much of which has been captured with the help of social media. The use of social media has exposed much of the violence which would have otherwise been hidden. Recently, George Floyd was a victim of this violence. A police officer in Minneapolis, Derick Chauvin, used his knee to pin Floyd down by his neck. A 10 minute video captured his murder. Floyd pleads that he can't breath, and about halfway through the video, Floyd appears unconscious and is likely dead at this point. Still, Chauvin keeps Floyd pinned to the ground with his knee until the paramedics arrive; ignoring his duty to render aid. Also captured, were the three other officers at the scene who also refused to assist Floyd and ignored the pleas of the bystanders to check his pulse. It was recently shown that Chauvin had multiple complaints against him, 2 of which he was punished for. The following proposed law would be able to prevent many of the incidents which have occurred with George Floyd, Freddie Gray, Atatiana Jefferson, and countless others. As of now, potential officers go through a psychological screening before employment that tests their fitness to be an officer. The test screens for judgement, integrity, dealing with stress, honesty, etc. This needs to go further in order to eliminate people who could pose a danger to citizens while on the job. Not all states require psychological screening which makes a federal requirement a necessity. The psychological screening, which is already done to screen an officer, should be more in depth and should also include evaluations that test for psychotic disorders, mood disorders & personality disorders. Around 88% of police departments have required drug screening. This should be included in all police departments since it would serve as a necessary precaution for screening. Since Chauvin was involved in incidents during his tenure as an officer, a re-screening should be required every 6 months to a year while the officer is employed. Much like how a doctor or lawyer is re-examined on their knowledge to ensure they are fit to practice, an officer should be required to take a re-examination too. These requirements should be federally mandated to ensure that across the country, officers are screened effectively. I appreciate you for taking the time to read this. Thank you! UPDATE (6/5/20): Since posting this petition, I have received numerous suggestions which I believe should be included and federally required as well. These include: regular & initial drug testing, social media screening, a federal hate crime for falsely reporting a racial crime, redirecting police funding in major cities to programs that support the communities, a national database for police officers involved in misconduct, QR codes on uniforms, an associates degree requirement for all departments, and banning police officers from being hired at another department if they are fired from one previously.Read more

Petition to Virginia State House, Virginia State Senate, Mark Herring
Legislation is greatly needed in the State of Virginia, requiring dog owners to keep their pets indoors once the temperature drops below 35 degrees, or exceeds 85 degrees. Currently, there is no protection for dogs left outside, and severe weather poses a fatal threat to these defenseless creatures. Rainbow is a recent example: On the morning of January 12, 2017, a dog was found frozen to death in Accomack County, Virginia, surrounded by snow, ice, and vomit. Her neck was bound tightly by a short chain that prevented her from reaching her plastic, uninsulated igloo, and she died an agonizing death, alone. She was named posthumously named "Rainbow." Rainbow's owner, Jose Berlanga, was charged with one count of animal cruelty and one count of failure to provide proper shelter. General District Judge Gordon Vincent found Berlanga guilty of both counts. He was fined $650 and sentenced to 60 days in jail. However, the entire jail sentence was suspended, as was $500 of the $650 fine. In the end, Berlanga paid a fine of $150 for Rainbow's death. Unfortunately, it is a common practice to leave dogs outside in extreme weather. These are just a FEW cases from Virginia Two Pit Bull Dogs Freeze to Death in Frederick County, VA Owner gets second animal cruelty charge after pit bull dies from heat stroke in Henrico, VA Two dogs die of heat stroke in Newport News, VA Suffolk, VA woman charged with cruelty in dog death Dog dies of excessive heat in Bristol, VA Dog freezes to death in Accomack County, VA (Rainbow) Dog Dies After Being Left in Hot Car Outside Virginia PetSmart The general consensus is that dogs are not susceptible to harsh climates, and that their fur makes them resistant to such temperatures. This is untrue. To the contrary, dogs suffer a great deal in these conditions.  Numerous animal welfare organizations, including the ASPCA and The Humane Society of the United States, have urged pet owners to keep their animals inside during times of extreme and inclement weather.  Recently, there have been several cases of people leaving their pets chained outside, day and night, in extreme weather. Many of these animals FROZE TO DEATH and there is NO LEGAL RECOURSE TO PROTECT THEM OR TO HOLD THEIR OWNERS ACCOUNTABLE! We are appealing to you to help us protect our best friends!  Washington D.C. Petition to Sen. Barbara Boxer
Please join me in signing this urgent petition. Without a kidney transplant, an Oakland father named Jesus Navarro will die. I was once in need of a transplant, but thankfully I was able to receive a kidney from a Nicaraguan friend of mine. UCSF never asked me if I was a legal resident. Now, Jesus Navarro, a dedicated, hard-working family man who has health insurance needs this life-saving procedure. He even waited for 6 years to come to the top of the list for recepients. His wife wishes to donate her kidney to him. UCSF hospital has told Jesus that the only reason he would not be able to get a transplant is becuase of his immigration status. As I see it, this is a matter of life and death. Jesus has received hundreds of messages of support stating that he should be allowed to receive a transplant. Immigration status should not determine someone's fate. Sign the petition to convince the UCSF Kidney Transplant Clinic to do the right thing and let Jesus receive this life-saving transplant. Thank you. P.S. You can read more on Jesus' story: Jesus Navarro has a donor match in his wife and private insurance to pay for a kidney transplant. But UC San Francisco Medical Center refuses to perform the operation because administrators cannot be sure he will be able to afford follow-up care given his status as an illegal immigrant. This man does not deserve to die.Read more

Petition to The OH State Senate
"An Ohio mother of two was sentenced to 10 days in jail and placed on three years probation after sending her kids to a school district in which they did not live. Kelley Williams-Bolar was sentenced by Judge Patricia Cosgrove on Tuesday and will begin serving her sentence immediately. The jury deliberated for seven hours and the courtroom was packed as the sentence was handed down. She was convicted on two counts of tampering with court records after registering her two girls as living with Williams Bolar's father when they actually lived with her. The family lived in the housing projects in Akron, Ohio, and the father’s address was in nearby Copley Township. Additionally, Williams-Bolar’s father, Edward L. Williams, was charged with a fourth-degree felony of grand theft, in which he and his daughter are charged with defrauding the school system for two years of educational services for their girls. The court determined that sending their children to the wrong school was worth $30,500 in tuition. - Dr. Boyce Watkins                     As punishment for doing everything in her power to keep her children safe, Ms. Williams-Bolar, a single mother with no previous criminal record, has been made a felon by Ohio judge Patricia Cosgrove. In addition to jail time, a large fine and probation, Ms. Williams-Bolar's felony conviction has also robbed her of her future. "'Because of the felony conviction, you will not be allowed to get your teaching degree under Ohio law as it stands today. The court's taking into consideration that is also a punishment that you will have to serve.'' - Judge Patricia Cosgrove Although Ms. Williams-Bolar had nearly completed her education to become a teacher, under Ohio law felons are not permitted to teach. She has been robbed of the opportunity to elevate her life and the lives of her family through her own hard work. She has been handed what equates to a life sentence for attempting to protect her children. In a time of overwhelming economic disadvantage for so many US citizens, are loving single mothers like Williams-Bolar truly the enemy our court system should be making examples of in this way?  Ms. Williams-Bolar's attorneys are currently preparing for an appeal. Please sign this petition to let Gov. Kasich know that you do not feel that Kelley Williams-Bolar's punishment appropriately fits her crime, and that you both support and demand a full pardon.  Read more

Petition to Doug Ford, Andrea Horwath, NDP party, Conservative party
As some of you may know Doug Ford is slashing the grace period of OSAP. The government's decision to charge interest right away, to do away with the grace period, is completely appalling. New graduates need time to get on their feet. It's clear the government see students as a source of income, when in fact students are the future of our province. This petition is to make sure that the government knows what is important and that they are really "for the people".#WeAreTheStudentsRead more
