    Petition to sonographers

    Help educate

I am a Sonographer. I have been very recently creating educational tutorials for sonography students, medical students and seasoned health professionals alike.  I have a strong passion for providing not only expert and compassionate care but also thorough, exciting high quality educational media in ultrasound. I chose to do this for the love of my profession, for free so there'd be no conflicts of interest. I painstakingly made sure that patient data and the hospital was protected in my presentations.  I intend to continue give tutorials for sonography from my home with the use of material found online. There is a modern medical movement by healthcare practitioners called #foam or free online access medical education. We live in modern times with a plethora of technology for healthcare providers to continue to learn the ever expanding volumes of medical knowledge. With deepest regard,

No More Steubenvilles: Educate Coaches About Sexual Assault

We are Connor and Carmen, a student athlete and a young feminist activist with SPARK Movement, and we are fed up with hearing the stories of male athletes committing acts of violence against young women from Johannesburg, South Africa to Steubenville, Ohio. We are sick of the sports communities surrounding them blindly supporting the boys and men, seemingly terrified of disrupting their athlete-hero culture that celebrates the local “golden boys” whose behavior has no consequences and ignores the voices and experiences of the girls and women they hurt. We need to change this culture that tolerates violence. We need solutions. As the trial in Steubenville played out before national audience, we heard about the violent and horrific experiences of a teenage girl, assaulted by local football playersduring a party weekend. We also know that one in four women and girls will be raped or assaulted by the time they turn 18. As a nation, we have a history of overlooking assault when it's committed by athletes, from the high school level to university programs to professional sports. But most athletes and coaches, like most men and most people, think sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence need to stop. Empowering coaches, who are mentors to young men, to begin difficult and complex conversations about sexual violence could create long-lasting change in communities across the nation and lead to curbing, and even ending, sexual violence. Behavior and attitudes change when important information on the topic comes from a trusted source. Students are willing (and often eager) to listen, but often only to people they respect. We are asking the National Federation of High School Associations, which offers annual required trainings for coaches in order for them to remain accredited, to partner with nationally recognized activist organizations to develop a course on sexual violence prevention for high school coaches. Coaches must be provided with the opportunity to learn how to foster a violence-free culture among their athletes in the locker room, on the playing fields and also in school hallways and weekend parties. As local “heroes” and role models, we need athletes to lead their communities toward a rape-free climate, and we expect coaches to be prepared to initiate and foster dialogue with their athletes around issues of sexual violence that are productive and educational. The role coaches play in the lives of athletes - as role models, mentors, and thought leaders to a large portion of the youth community - is invaluable. By training coaches to understand how to address this issue with young male athletes, we can make valuable steps toward safer communities across the United States.Support this initiative and request that the NFHS offers a violence-prevention course for high school coaches by signing on below.

Educate children about domestic violence and how to seek help

Well, I am rachel.I am 14 years old and I have been a victim of domestic violence.I didnt know that what happened in my home was different to any other family home, as a child how could I have known any better? My three brothers, mother and I just accepted the ongoing abuse (whether it be verbal, emotional or physical) , I wanted help ,but didn't know how to get it. If I had known any better, my family would have been safe and a lot happier than what we were. We were scared, naive , and alone. All victims of domestic violence, my family got torn apart. After a major DV incident, my brothers, mum and I immediately and became homeless for nine solid months. The police were involved this time ,and that's when i realised how serious domestic violence is. I began to develop major  mental illnesses such as;Bulimia , Depression,Anxiety ,dissociating issues,  and many more.My mum had been dealing with severe depression  years before that and nobody had a clue, and my two other brothers had to cope by putting on a brave face. After nine horrible months,we found a house and moved in with mum and my two brothers, aswell as myself. We settled in but were all silent sufferers of neverending sadness. The domestic violence eventually came back into place, but not as severe.. My mum couldn't cope after approximately 8 or so months. She killed herself four weeks ago,she was the only person I ever needed in my life ,I miss her so much.If domestic violence was addressed within the public schools educational criteria ,i could have gotten help and saved my mum.We need the NSW education system to teach their students About domestic violence, nobody deserves to go through what I have been through. By doing so , Children/adolescents will begin to speak up and get the help their family needs. We cant let this issue go on.PLEASE help by signing my petition ,thankyou.

Clean up our act! Educate Hong Kong on marine waste!

FB IG Twitter: #stopwaste #cleanupyouracthongkong #discoverhongkong #thisishongkong #shapingchange Hi. My name is Chris. I live in Hong Kong the most wasteful society in the world. We hold the crown as the kings of trash.  Moreover, we rank 8th in the world in terms of marine consumption.  The per capita consumption is even almost double that of China! I am lucky that the village I live in is one of pristine beauty. It's Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department (AFCD). The AFCD is kind of like the parks service of the Hong Kong SAR and as the name puts it, responsible for wildlife and marine conservation in Hong Kong.  Hoi Ha is an area of 2.6 sq. Km with over 120 species of coral fish and 64 species of stony coral. It's kind of a gem in Hong Kong because it has some of the best coral communities in all of China. Because it's such an amazing site, we see more than 96,000 visitors per year. As a resident of Hoi Ha, I attended a meeting on November 4th with the AFCD regarding a new educational visitor centre they plan to build here. I asked them if they will include a permanent exhibit regarding the urgent situation of our trashed oceans and what we as a people can do to fix the problem. They responded that "plans for the educational package are to be more conservation related and any exhibit regarding ocean trash would be temporary in nature". Uh what??  I think our wasting of the oceans has everything to do with marine conservation. And most importantly, us Hong Kongers are the proven leaders of litter. This is not a fact for us to be proud of. And so it is absolutely integral we take every opportunity to begin educating about the disastrous impact we are having on the oceans and what we can do to stop it. And what better place to do it than at the new visitor centre in Hong Kong's best marine park that sees so many visitors per year. It has got to be one of the most strategic locations to get the message across and to have the highest impact on our society here in Hong Kong. So this is a petition to Patrick Lai, Assistant Director, Country and Marine Parks of AFCD and Alan Chan, Senior Marine Parks Officer of AFCD to: 所以我就此發起這次請願,希望向漁護署助理署長黎存志及高級海洋護理主任陳乃觀傳遞以下4個訴求: Guarantee the inclusion of a permanent educational exhibit at the new Hoi Ha Wan Marine Centre regarding how we have trashed our oceans and the risks of continuing on the same course確保在海下灣新設立的海洋教育中心中設有永久的展覽關於「我們如何制造海洋污染及它帶來的嚴重後果」這個主題 Ensure the exhibit discusses the poor record we Hong Kongers have at waste management globally碓保展覽當中討論到香港人在海洋污染的責任 Provide solutions on how each one of us can change our habits to stop the current destruction and begin fixing the disaster提供資訊如何改變我們的習慣去制止我們對海洋的破壞及著手改善海洋環境 An ongoing status report of the improvement actions being taken and the performance of such actions持續提供有關改善行動及其成效的報告 Please help me convince Hong Kong's marine conservation department of the importance of this.  As the visitor centre is currently under construction, we need to try to convince them of this before completion.  So, I need to get as much help as I can. Please show your support and help me ensure we begin educating the world's biggest wasters on the importance of reducing our impact on the world's oceans. Please sign my petition.   Please share it globally. As the world's leading wasters, we owe it to the world.

QLD Health: My son’s suicide could have been avoided - educate emergency staff on suicidal patients

My precious son committed suicide after being turned away from hospital, his danger of self-harming tragically underestimated. I had found Chris with multiple self harm injuries from a razor blade before rushing him to hospital - but despite being clearly suicidal they turned my boy away. 11 days later he died. He received no psychological attention - just a prescription for some Valium and was told to get a good night’s sleep. I was beside myself, knowing this formal rejection would cost Chris his life. No patient requiring urgent attention should ever be turned away from hospital - end of story.  I honestly do appreciate that emergency departments in hospitals are resource and time poor. But the staff need to receive specialised training and support on how to recognise and respond to ‘at risk’ patients of suicide if we are to reduce the loss of precious lives. He was told to check in with his local doctor after two weeks, but he never made it to the appointment. The Coroner’s report found there were spare beds in the hospital at the time Chris presented to hospital. That my fragile boy threatening to end his life wasn’t dealt with as a critical emergency is alarming.  My darling boy’s struggle is not unique. More young Australians die by suicide than by motor vehicle accidents or skin cancer. This frightening reality needs addressing. I cannot bring my boy back but I’ll be damned if I let other parents go through my pain. I am calling on the QLD Premier and Minister for Health to urgently implement specialised training for emergency hospital staff on how to recognise and respond to suicidal patients.   Please sign my petition and help ensure Chris’ death wasn’t in vain.

Stop Rhino poaching, educate communities and address issues leading to it,dehorning option!

The form of any life matters, animals and humans...We have to tackle the scourge of this epidemic, the measures we want to voice out is prevention is better than cure.If we can restore the mindsets of communities, create hope in their dreams through rewarding hard work and respecting wildlife...as this is our legacy!     Mncedi Pilane Hazyview 1242, South Africa 1 sec ago "Bophi Phondo" means chill in a Zulu slang lingo that dominates in Mzansi(South Africa)...our people always find a way to substitute words to their vocabulary...   We might have to seriously consider safely dehorning the rhino to save the species, to make it pointless for poachers to risk hunting these and in the process save them...educating and killing the poachers isn't a solution! Here is another spin-off from the campaign that has started already, selling our country/continent as a tourism factor as we have support on this campaign globally... Together we can
