Petition to Election Commisson of India, Sunil Arora
What do Pranjal, an IIT student and Vinod, an Uber driver have in common? Neither can vote in the 2019 elections. Because they study and work in cities away from their hometowns.
“We discuss politics a lot at IIT, Delhi. I was so keen to vote in my hometown Kota in the recent Rajasthan elections. But sadly I couldn’t make it as I couldn’t afford to skip my studies for 3-4 days,” says Pranjal.
Etah-resident Vinod drives an Uber cab in Noida. “I didn’t have the money or the time to travel 200 kilometres to cast a vote in the UP elections. It would have been a lot simpler if the location of a voter did not matter, only the vote did,” he says.
Like Pranjal and Vinod, crores of Indians are on the move. For work or education. And many have voter cards but live far away from their constituencies where they are registered.
It’s time to make every Indian’s vote count.
Unlike numerous services - like mobile phone numbers, bank accounts and Aadhaar number - that remain the same whether you live in Agra or Agartala, our voting right doesn’t move with us.
This is one of the biggest reasons why millions of Indians were not able to vote in the 2014 elections.
Sign this petition asking the Election Commission of India to make it possible for every Indian with a voters card to cast their vote no matter where they live in India - in their constituency or thousands of kilometres away.
Afterall, if NRIs can vote by proxy, why can’t Indians on the move right here in India?
It’s time to turn these #LostVotes into votes that count. Because they can shape the destiny of our nation.

Mass shootings occur frequently in this country because of easy access to destructive weapons that have no sporting purpose. The National Firearms Act already provides language for regulating the sale, importation, and ownership destructive wepons that have no sporting purpose. However, modern assault rifles like the AR-15, semiautomatic kalashnikov rifle (AK-47), sig sauer MCX assault rifle, semiautomatic FN FAL rifles and their variants are not covered by the National Fire Arms act. This has allowed mass shooters easy access to powerful semiautomatic versions of military rifles allowing them to kill and wound countless innocent men, women and children. We are calling on the President and Congress to amend the National Firearms Act to include semiautomatic versions of military rifles, weapons that have proven themselves to be highly destructive, and to have no sporting purpose. This would force those wanting to purchase these destructive wepons to obtain approval from the ATF, pass an extensive background check to include submitting a photograph and fingerprints, fully register the firearm, receive ATF written permission before moving the firearm across state lines, and pay a tax. This would not affect the majority of the guns that americans use for hunting, target shooting, and self defense. Revolvers, lever action rifles, bolt action rifles, pistols, shotguns and semiautomatic rifles with out detachable magizines would not be affected.
Additionaly start new legislation that would ban the sale of rifle, pistol, and shotgun magizines with a capacity greater than thirteen rounds. This would dramaticaly deminish the ability of mass shooters to fire rapidly, but still protect the sporting and self defense gun uses of the average american.
The National Fire Arms act was originally drafted in 1934 in response to gangland crime, and has been updated twice by congress in 1968, and in 1986. It is time to update it again for the needs of twenty-first century americans.Read more
With the recent havoc inflicted by the second wave of COVID-19, particularly in our country, the demand for more and more health care facilities is also booming. As we deal with all the grim news around us every day relaxing in our homes, our medical fraternities are toiling hard day and night risking their lives for the sake of the general public. The road to treatment & recovery is long and not so easy. Despite continuously burning their blood,be it in the wards or anywhere else, for management of this crisis, our doctors and health care professionals are still being targeted by some imbeciles and thereby hampering them in providing the best possible help to the ones in need. Recently several cases have been brought to everyone's notice where the dignity of the Medicos is at stake. Our choices define what we are. If we continue to turn a blind eye and sit quietly, this situation is only going to worsen. After all those active engagement in the wards, our medical fraternities deserve a big shout-out and words of gratitude. But ironically, several incidents have come to light whereby they are being either abused or beaten up. This has to end.can we get your support for this? And try to find a silver hope to hang on to...to ensure the safety of our Health care professionals....Let us leave no stones unturned to forward this plea to the GOI and other concerned authorities. Honorable decision-maker,
Sri Lanka’s Animal Welfare Bill which received Cabinet approval on 13 January 2016 is yet to be passed by Parliament, thus lacking the force of law.
Today, our animals – stray, captive, domestic or wild, face many difficulties at the hands of humans. They are beaten, abused, exploited, stoned, shot, trapped, killed, neglected and exposed to many other forms of cruelty daily.
Most recently, a Labrador named Charlie was burnt alive in Negombo by trespassers on private property, and although vets fought to save his life, the he suffered a painful death (please see the attached images and footage courtesy of Animal SOS).
I am confident that as a compassionate human and due to your position as a decision maker, you can drive the enactment of the Animal Welfare Bill. Therefore, we humbly request your support to enact the Animal Welfare Bill of Sri Lanka so that it becomes law. We must act now, otherwise many innocent animals would continue to suffer horrific deaths in Sri Lanka.
I along with many other Sri Lankan citizens strive to create an environment where animal lives are protected by law, so that they too have the chance to live their lives in peace and to be saved form a horrific death. We continue to do our part by rescuing animals, rehabilitating them, donating resources to charities amongst others. Our fight to save animals in Sri Lanka will be fruitless if the Animal Welfare Bill doesn’t have the force of law. Therefore, we desperately need your support to convert this Animal Welfare Bill into law.
Yours sincerely,
Citizens of Sri Lanka with Otara Foundation, Embark, Animal SOS Sri Lanka, AWPA, Save a Paw with Love, Dog Star Foundation, Cat Protection Trust, Tikiri Trust, Ray of Hope, Adopt a Dog SL, Care for the Voiceless, Baw Baw, We Care, Dog Care Clinic, Le Kittenarium, Pawever Pals, VisionOne, SustainSolutions.
