My goal is to change our community into a peaceful, safe and enjoyable place to live and raise our families. We all play a part of fixing the issues of our communities, and it’s time to make those changes.
Continuously over the last year, the use of fireworks has effected our community horribly, and I believe it’s time to finally put a stop to the year-round-and-all-hours madness. Fireworks impact our sleep, our pets and families anxiety and health, our serenity. The following fireworks are prohibited by law; Aerial consumer fireworks, bottle & sky rockets, helicopters, torpedoes, roman candles & jumping jacks. These, specifically roman candles, have been used constantly over the past year, worsening due to the boredom and isolation during the pandemic of COVID-19.
Another issue that has progressed recently is street racing. I personally was in a collision recently due to a driver speeding and losing control. This driver drove over a median and hit me head on. The unfortunate part, this is not uncommon. The amount of car accidents over the last 6 months has dramatically increased. As a community we hear these vehicles constantly. We see them speed past us, swerving, cutting other drivers off, risking our lives for their entertainment.
The last concern, firearms. We have our second amendment right to bear arms, but we do not have the right to discharge our weapons freely in our neighborhoods where children and families reside. We live in a neighborhood where certain individuals believe they can do what they want when they want with no repercussions.
It is time to step up and show that this is not acceptable and it will not be tolerated any further. Our families deserve better, our community needs better. With the help of this petition, I believe we have a fighting chance to really make a difference here and we owe it to our families to make that change.
