Petition to U.S. House of Representatives, President of the United States, City of Austin, Texas, U.S. Senate, Texas Governor
Health care in the United States is among the most expensive of first world countries and most citizens rely on private health insurance. This has resulted in high rates of uninsured individuals and is the cause of many untreated health problems in the United States. Health insurance was created to help families and individuals to not get placed in the financial debt that occurs when they are unable to afford the expenses that come from serious illness or injury. The demand for health care has increased because life expectancy has increased. Because of this, health care/coverage has become more expensive. Meaning co-pays and deductibles prices are rising. Many health care providers could deny you if you have existing illnesses and if the health care provider does approve you, the amount of money that you could pay could still make health insurance unattainable.Even with the introduction of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, many people still struggle to afford health insurance premiums, and even then, things like copays, deductibles and prescriptions are not included in that cost. An organization that has supported health care from the beginning is the National Health Council, which is a non-partisan and nonprofit organization with its members being other health organizations like the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, among many others. There are several bills that have been created since the introduction of the ACA to help curb the cost of health insurance. This social media campaign would act not only as an infographic for the true costs of healthcare in the United States but also as a way for the average citizen to get involved in advocating for the right to affordable healthcareRead more

Petition to Judge Timothy Register, State Attorney Megan Ford, Florida state attorney general, Office of the District Attorney of Washington County
Rashad Follins has been incarcerated since November 23, 2019 for a crime that he did not commit. He was arrested for arson and burglary of a house fire to a homeowner. There is no DNA evidence, fingerprints, physical evidence, or footprint evidence collected that was linked to Rashad’s crime. As my brother, I’ve known Rashad all of my life. I’m fighting for him to make sure his case gets a fair review and calling attention to the prosecutorial misconduct that I believe resulted in Rashad being wrongfully sent to jail with an unjustified high bail of $130,000 and an expected sentence prison of 30 years. Will you stand with me and demand new evidence to be considered? Rashad’s conviction was based solely on unreliable eyewitness testimony and falsified information. Authorities interrogated him without an attorney present. Furthermore, when the fire victim indicated that he couldn’t identify who caused the fire, police officers told witnesses to give their “guess” which led to the guess of Rashad. Rashad has been in a jail cell for 8 months, sitting behind bars for a crime I know and many others know he didn’t commit. He has type 1 diabetes where he is dependent on insulin every day. I am disappointed and shocked that this unlawful treatment has happened so close to home.  I’m dedicated to seeing the freeing of my brother, who is a father, son and friend to others. Systematic racism needs to be brought to an end. And it’s why I need your help today. I urge you to join me in asking Judge Timothy Register and State Attorney Megan Ford, the office of the Florida State Attorney General and the Office of the District Attorney of Washington County. To take into account the undeniable facts of Rashad’s case and provide justice for my brother Rashad Follins once and for all.Read more

Petition to Sarasota Commission
Sarasota has a housing crisis.  Sign this petition to show your support for the Sarasota City Commission to vote on Monday September 19th to approve work on the a plan that will help to create incentives to developers to include affordable housing in their development plans. We, the front line workers, can't afford to live here. We are the+ life blood of this community. Serve your drinks and food? That's us. Clean your house? That's us. Take care of the sick? Us again! Teach the children, put out fires, market your business, sell your companies products or hotel nights, stack library books, collect your trash. THAT'S US ! It's time for the future of Sarasota to have our voices heard and to demand that we cannot wait any longer to create housing solutions that will help those that serve the community of Sarasota to be able to have the chance to afford to live in the community that they serve. If action is not taken now and is delayed it will have an impact on our ability to be able to save  "The amendment would create a new “urban mixed use” land use category and free up for redevelopment 825 acres of city land (more than 1,000 parcels) along its major transportation corridors (Tamiami Trail, 301 and Fruitville Road). Which would allow for redevelopment of existing commercial shopping centers into multi-story, mixed use structures abutting neighborhoods. The amendment would grant an automatic base density of 25 units per acre, with incentives for up to three times that amount for projects that include affordable housing," as stated recently in the Herald Tribune. The city is voting on an amendment that was approved by the state. The state proposed no changes and returned the amendment in August, after which the city set the approval schedule. Residents will be allowed three minutes each to weigh in during the three upcoming meetings on Monday. Given that a supermajority (4-1) is required in order to change the city’s Comprehensive Plan, this is our only chance to have this approved. As the opposition states, “This is our city. Our neighbors. Our neighborhoods. We must stand up together, as a community, and demand our rights to decide our own destiny and regain a voice in the decisions that impact our everyday lives.” It's time we rise together as the future of Sarasota for our voices to be heard.Read more
