Petition to Leo Varadkar, Micheál Martin
Increase the 50 person limit for Religious gatherings in appropriately large buildings.
Dear Mr Martin, it is unreasonable that a 50 person limit has been set for Religious gatherings, when many places of worship could safely hold many more people, while still maintaining proper safety protocol and social distancing. For many Religious communities the local congregation exceeds 1000 attendees each weekend. The present limitations would require over 20 services in a weekend to meet the needs of those congregations; which is unreasonable by any standards. Due to these unrealistic restrictions many Religious services would have to refuse entry to many families and individuals who have been starved for months of their spiritual nourishment. Please do not continue to neglect the spiritual needs, and right to worship, of the Irish people because of arbitrary numbers that may work for other social settings or non-essential gatherings. For many Irish people attending religious services is not an optional extra, but the very heart of their spiritual, personal and community life, and a right which many feel the government are infringing upon by setting the maximum number so far below the normal gathering number for large Churches, Mosques, Synagogues and other places of worship throughout the country. Please reconsider and increase the maximum number for congregations in larger religious buildings, and especially for outdoor services. At least be open to having a dialogue with religious leaders, rather than dictating rules that are not being implemented in other settings.

Toxicity to MRI and Contrast dyes addressed and Patients cared for appropriately.
I want to bring to the attention of a very serious health risk in our nation. Contrast agents used and protocols missed. Allergic reactions going unnoticed/ ignored or not informing the patients properly of the risks. I have tried everything to get help, and unfortunately for me my time maybe running out. It is not too late to warn others and try to prevent what has happened to me, from happening to another. On January 7th 2019 I became toxic to gadolinium. A metal used in contrast dyes in MRI. I knew immediately something was wrong. My arm was burning, felt like it was on fire before going completely numb. I tried everything to get her to stop administering it, it wasn't until my arm went numb , she finally did . Told me don't worry I just collapsed your vein.... only half of contrast administered at that point, before she proceeded on next arm. I was in MRI machine for a hour and half...with allergic reaction known. I left without being monitored, without the allergic reaction being looked into or stopped. I left feeling like my head was placed in a snowglobe shaken repeatedly. In 4 months I have toxicity, I have bilateral thickening in lungs (was not there 6 months ago) I have thinning in my kidneys, I have decreased brain size abnormal for someone of my age along with grey matter found. I have extreme light and noise sensitivities that send me into sensory overload. I have blood in my urine. Spasm, red wents that are feverish to touch that appear out of no where and leave in few minutes. Hypersensitivity to any medical equipment that touches my skin. ( blood pressure cuffs - that area will swell up become feverish slowly start to fade , but red dots of outline will remain for days to a week later).low grade temp, body and joint pain everywhere. Vision decreased, memory loss, speech impairment, the list goes on and on. I am only one of many nationwide becoming toxic, without any help received afterwards. One of many failed by pharmaceutical companies and medical professionals. Many patients don't even know they are toxic or had allergic reactions, therefore improperly misdiagnosed and treated as diagnosises continue to pile up. Hospital who performed test - guaranteed me allergic reaction was noted , however just not visable for me to see. Quaranteed me any and all help I needed he would make sure I received. I have received NONE. He told me protocols were missed. Said anyone who goes in for a MRI or CT with contrast are supposed to have blood work and urinalysis performed first. I never have. I was told once allergic reaction is noticed and told , I was supposed to be monitored. I wasn't. A allergic reaction could be as little as a cough, but again patients don't know whats normal , whats not and NEVER given information on what to look for afterwards in the event a allergic reaction does occur. Health Departments - don't return calls. They are the ones to oversee hospitals and regulations to make sure protocols are followed. Physicians - do not know what gadolinium is , nor do they know how to treat gadolinium. How is it possible a physician can order tests, that they do not know how to treat patients if an adverse reaction or toxiicity occurs? Other Countries have banned gadolinium from being used because once retained it is permanate. The MRI and CT techs will tell you to drink plenty of water for 24 hours to flush the contrasts out, yet no one follows up to make sure the contrasts are out of system. I am providing a link to what is allergic reactions to these dyes. I am asking everyone to read these allergic reactions carefully , I bet every single person who has had a MRI or a CT with contrast dye inserted in them has had reactions, yet were unaware. https://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?pg=safety-contrast&fbclid=IwAR1ry-pz1oUD4pi-2Q361KDuBt_bsVdLOsac61SdxZZNw1hocXR3Vado4L4 Side effects and adverse and allergic reactionsBarium Sulfate Contrast MaterialsYou should tell your doctor if these mild side effects of barium-sulfate contrast materials become severe or do not go away: stomach crampsdiarrheanauseavomitingconstipationTell your doctor immediately about any of these symptoms: hivesitchingred skinswelling of the throatdifficulty breathing or swallowinghoarsenessagitationconfusionfast heartbeatbluish skin colorYou are at greater risk of an adverse reaction to barium-sulfate contrast materials if: you have a history of asthma, hay fever, or other allergies, which will increase your risk of an allergic reaction to the additives in the barium-sulfate agent.you have cystic fibrosis, which will increase the risk of blockage in the small bowel.you are severely dehydrated, which may cause severe constipation.you have an intestinal blockage or perforation that could made worse by a barium-sulfate agent.Iodine-based Contrast MaterialsMild reactions include: nausea and vomitingheadacheitchingflushingmild skin rash or hivesModerate reactions include: severe skin rash or hiveswheezingabnormal heart rhythmshigh or low blood pressureshortness of breath or difficulty breathingSevere reactions include: difficulty breathingcardiac arrestswelling of the throat or other parts of the bodyconvulsionsprofound low blood pressureA very small percentage of patients may develop a delayed reaction with a rash which can occur hours to days after an imaging exam with an iodine-based contrast material. Most are mild, but severe rashes may require medication after discussion with your physician. Contrast-Induced NephropathyPatients with impaired kidney (renal) function should be given special consideration before receiving iodine-based contrast materials by vein or artery. Such patients are at risk for developing contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), a condition in which already-impaired kidney function worsens within a few days of contrast material administration. Much of the research linking CIN with iodine-based contrast material is based on older contrast agents that are no longer used, and some recent studies have found no increased risk of CIN in patients who received iodine-based contrast material. If you have impaired kidney function, your doctor will assess the benefits of contrast-enhanced CT against any risks. At-Risk PatientsSome conditions increase the risk of an allergic or adverse reaction to iodine-based contrast materials. These include: previous adverse reactions to iodine-based contrast materialshistory of asthmahistory of allergyheart diseasedehydrationsickle cell anemia, polycythemia and myelomarenal diseasethe use of medications such as Beta blockers, NSAIDs, interleukin 2having received a large amount of contrast material within the past 24 hoursBeing at increased risk for an allergic or adverse reaction to contrast material does not necessarily mean a patient cannot undergo an imaging exam with contrast materials. Medications are sometimes given before the contrast material is administered to lessen the risk of an allergic reaction in susceptible patients. MR-GadoliniumThe contrast material used in MR called gadolinium is less likely to produce an allergic reaction than the iodine-based materials used for x-rays and CT scanning. Very rarely, patients are allergic to gadolinium-based contrast materials and experience hives and itchy eyes. Reactions usually are mild and easily controlled by medication. Severe reactions are rare. Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), a thickening of the skin, organs and other tissues, is a rare complication in patients with kidney disease that undergo an MR with contrast material. Gadolinium-based contrast material may be withheld in some patients with severe kidney disease. There is evidence that tiny traces of gadolinium may be retained in different organs of the body, including the brain, after contrast-enhanced MRI. While there are no known negative effects from this, your doctor may take gadolinium retention into account when selecting a contrast agent. There are a number of different gadolinium-based contrast agents available, each with its own safety profile. Decisions on which material to use may be affected by the part of the body being imaged, the cost of the material and other factors. These decisions are especially important in patients likely to undergo multiple MRI scans with gadolinium-based contrast material, such as pediatric patients, cancer patients and people with multiple sclerosis. I apoligize as I know this is a long read. However, I can not get the help I need. Trust me I have tried. Therefore maybe I can force change before this happens to someone else. Here is what I am asking 1. FDA and CDC to look into these contrast dyes used. Find out exactly what protocols are supposed to be done and force those performing these tests to follow those protocols. 2. All physicans who prescribe these MRIs and Cts with FDA and CDC to attend a seminar to discuss those protocols and obtain a certification or license in order to prescribe those tests from being performed. 3. I want all medical professionals that are prescribing these tests , to know exactly how to treat a adverse reaction and or toxicity. 4. I want every patient given a pamplet explaining in detail exactly what will be injected into them and verbally told of risk before signing a consent form. I do not feel these requests are unreasonable to ask for. Change needs to be done immediately. Patients like myself who rely on our health care professionals , shouldn't become toxic and not be able to receive care. No one wants to take accountability for how this happened or why it happened. My life meant so little to them. Its not just my life, it's yours too. Please help in forcing accountability, forcing protocols and forcing the system to stop failing us. Thank you

Petition to Prime Minister Tony Abbott
Show our Defence Force your support with respect, not a pay cut..
Please Sign our petition.! The government has confirmed that they propose to give the ADF a pay offer for the next three years that doesn’t even meet inflation. That means in real terms - it’s a pay cut! The offer is currently 1.5% for the next 3 years. It’s an absolute insult. They are asking our young brave men and women of the ADF to subsidise the War on Terror My son’s in the RAAF, he didn't join for the money, he joined to fullfil a lifetime dream to serve and protect. With all of the things happening in the world right now, life for defence force families is starting to get very tense again. The idea that the government would only offer a measly 1.5% increase to their pay right now, is outrageous. The remuneration for our ADF personnel should reflect the value and respect we as a Nation have for anyone who is prepared in whatever capacity to put themselves and their own wellbeing and safety second to serving their country to make it a safe and better place for all of us to live in. Offering a pittance with an excuse of "current economic times" is disgusting and an insult to these brave men and women. We need to ensure that our Defence Forces are remunerated at a level that reflects their importance and respect we as a country and community have for them. Please sign this petition and your support will be forwarded to the Federal Government Ministers responsible.

STOP Ontario Ag-Gag Bill 156!
The Ontario Government is trying to pass freedom-crushing legislation that would make it a crime to expose animal abuse! Introduced on 12/2/19 by the Hon. Ernie Hardeman, Bill 156 seeks to limit access to farms, slaughterhouses, and transport trucks and would make it a crime to uncover and report the truth about how farm animals are treated. Undercover footage routinely shows farm animals subjected to abuse and neglect. However, instead of imposing welfare standards or ensuring the proper treatment of farm animals, the Government is looking to conceal animal cruelty by preventing whistleblowers and journalists from reporting animal cruelty and neglect. It's a moral obligation to report any crimes of cruelty and neglect! If passed, Bill 156 will severely undermine Ontario's animal welfare laws and will allow companies and individuals to "continue business as usual." Urge the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Ernie Hardeman, and MPPs Jeff Yurek, Sylvia Jones, Doug Downey, Randy Pettapiece, Toby Barrett, John Vanthof, and Sarah Singh to OPPOSE Bill 156!

Petition to Governor Martin O'Malley
Justice For Ethan: Governor Martin O'Malley, We need an independent investigation and training for police.
My big brother, Ethan Saylor, was a 26 year old man with Down Syndrome who died in the custody of three off-duty Frederick County Deputy Sheriffs on January 12th, 2013 over the price of a movie ticket. Our family is hurt and left with many unanswered questions. We're calling for an independent investigation into Ethan's death. Ethan's crime? He wouldn't leave a movie theater because he wanted to see Zero Dark Thirty one more time, but didn't pay for the second showing. When he refused to get out of the seat for the next show police attempted to pull him out of his chair and he resisted. Ethan's aide asked the police to wait and that Ethan would calm down shortly if they left him alone. She specifically told them that touching him would just escalate the situation. They didn't listen. One deputy pulled Ethan from his seat and began struggling with him. Then two more off-duty deputies joined in, wrestling Ethan and trying to handcuff him. Then they "took him down," falling in a heap with Ethan at the bottom. Witnesses say they could hear him crying and calling for our mom. Then he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. In just a few moments he was dead - eventually ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. To date, the only investigation conducted was written from the narrow perspective of the Frederick County Sheriffs Department. They investigated and cleared themselves of any wrongdoing. And for us, so many questions are left unanswered because of this. Part of the problem is that police officers in Maryland aren't trained enough in how to deal with developmentally disabled people like my brother. I think training is an important next step in making sure that what happens to my brother never happens to anyone else. We need a comprehensive, independent investigation that will show all sides of the truth; unbiased and thorough. I want my governor and attorney general to get justice for my brother, and to implement training protocols so that no other family will ever have to experience the pain my family feels. We miss Ethan every day. He didn't deserve this. And no one else does, either.

Petition to Teacher Qualification Service, BC School Trustees Association, British Columbia Teachers Federation
Recognize and Pay British Columbia Teachers Appropriately for Academic Degrees
I’m writing for your support in challenging the BC Teacher Qualification Service and their recent refusal to recognize my Graduate Degree for the purpose of pay scale categorization (Master of Arts, Theology - University of Western Ontario, 2009). The primary function of the TQS is to assist teachers and their employing school boards in establishing the qualifications of teachers for salary purposes. TQS policy 1.1 (updated last in 2001) states: "Courses completed at a recognized university with content which is directly related to a subject taught or educational practice in BC public schools will be accepted for categorization purposes while courses which are not directly related will be limited to twelve credits (i.e. religious studies, divinity, theology, professional programs other than in education)." The issue here is simple: the scope of Religion courses and content offered in the New BC curriculum is vast (Comparative World Religions, Comparative Cultures, Philosophy, Political Studies, English Literature, and all Social Studies) and the TQS needs to recognize Religious Studies and Theology degrees as directly related to subjects taught in BC public schools. This debate is not about publicly funded religious schooling or instruction in a specific faith. It’s about endorsing a consistent principle that values all education and learning endeavors. It’s about having equitable administrative policies that ensure appropriate teacher compensation for academic qualifications directly related to current BC curriculum. This petition is asking for your support in changing TQS Policy 1.1 to include all relevant academic degrees, especially those directly related to courses taught in BC Public Schools, specifically Religious Studies/Theology. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to read this and giving your support. If you agree that this policy should be changed, please sign the petition and share with colleagues, parents, or friends who value teacher education/training related to current BC curriculum.
