Stop charging exorbitant amounts for Covid tests.

My father-in-law passed away due to Covid and to go for his last rites and perform the rituals we have to go through these multiple Covid tests when going and on return. The cost is prohibitive and extortionate. The pandemic has hit our income hard and such expenses that have to be made push us into even more debt. Airline tickets are already very expensive.  Testing is of course extremely important and required to keep our country safe. But all we ask is that the cost is made reasonable. It seems as though the kits required to be purchased for those who have to travel must be done so from CTM North, which appears to be a private company. I just hope this money is going to the NHS as the kits are the same as the NHS kits and not being pocketed by a private company. Travellers to and from the UK have to pay a hefty amount for Covid tests, £150 for travelling out and £210 on return. It is causing a lot of hardship in these difficult times. One travels only for essential purposes which in most cases in itself is stressful e.g. for family illness or bereavement. Other countries charge a lot less. The UK government is requested to reduce the charges immediately.

Restriction on Rent & Deposit amounts in Bangalore

We, the Bangalorian tenants have been tortured by the Bangalore owners in paying the hefty rents & deposits. They charge deposits as high as 10 months rent amount. This deposit is supposed to be refundable. However following kind of inappropriate practices were observed: 1.) They deduct your deposit amount in the name of painting & maintenance charges & claim to spend it for damages. In fact, they want to renovate their house with our deposit amount. 2.) Some owners show strong political influence & are not even afraid if we lounge a complaint. On the contrary, they threaten us to lounge the complaint & be ready for consequences. 3.) It has become a struggle to find a decent house in the Silicon City of India within our budget & without fear of losing our hard earned money in the hands of greedy owners. A draft model was released for the Tenancy Act in 2020. We request this to be converted into Law at earliest. This will put a restriction on the amount to be deduction as Deposit to maximum 2 months. It will also help avoid such malpractices & the Bangalore tenants can get a sigh of relief. Considering the benefit for hard working tax-payers in Bangalore, we request to get this Law in place.

Petition to Benefiting Parties Out of this Land Acquisition Process to the Detriment of Land Owners

WHETHER THE LAND ACQUISITION ACT 1960 AMOUNTS TO LAND GRAB?

How do legal land owners defend their rights from being deprived of their Federal constitutional right? The Land Acquisition Act was served upon this oldest residential estate in Johor Bahru, Kim Teng Park, twice in four years! The first attempt was aborted through political intervention in 2015. The second attempt, now in 2019, on the same grounds in favor of a private development entity with dubious terms as to the proposed development itself. The affected multi ethnic community was establish in 1959. We are a mature community with a high majority of retirees. If our properties are taken by the government of the day: 1.       We are unable to secure a suitable replacement property at such a convenient location.  For those elderly like us, we need convenient access to medical facilities and amenities. 2.       We are unable to access banking facilities as most are retired, and our age disqualifies us from banking assistance to purchase another equivalent unit. 3.       The compensation by way of government land acquisition falls far short of the potential value of the properties. 4.       We stand to lose a greater deal if our land is acquired in favor of the private development entity. Our properties are classified as FREEHOLD PROPERTIES.  Article 13 of the Federal Constitution provides for an individual’s right to property: 13(1) – No person shall be deprived of property save in accordance with the law 13(2) – No law shall provide for the compulsory use of acquisition of property without adequate compensation. We, the vulnerable, are aggrieved that our properties being acquired at a massive discount in favor of the private development entity. WE PETITION AGAINST ANY FORM OF LAND GRAB which violates Federal Constitution Article 13.

Make Instagram Come Up With a Better System to Handle Mass Amounts of Sexual Harassment

Recently on her Instagram Live, Milana Vayntrub, also known as the AT&T Actress, spoke about the amount of sexual harassment comments she was receiving on her posts ever since she was brought into the limelight by posts on Twitter and on TikTok. She was asking her followers if they had any suggestions on what she should do to deal with all the harassment, and instead of getting helpful responses, she got more of the same disrespectful comments. She did not ask for any of this attention and I believe Instagram should have an accessible way for people to report complaints of this nature and have bots that automatically mass delete comments which these people with sudden fame find offensive; at their request. It would be impossible for Milana and other people in her situation to report every single account that made an objectifying and harassing comment to her. Instagram and other social media platforms should do a better job at standing with women who face these kind of problems every day. I have seen too many men get away with making women feel unsafe online. As a nation we need to do better at educating men to treat women as people, but until we do that, we need to be able to silence the men who don't. At the very least, let's bring this to Instagram's attention so we can help Milana work her way through this time.

Petition to Missouri State High School Activities Association, Www.mshsaa.org

MSHSAA should send equal amounts of girls and boys to the State Wrestling Tournament!

This is the first season for Missouri Girls Wrestling.  The boys state tournament allows 4 regional qualifiers in each weight class for state.  They have made the decision to only allow 3 girls in each weight class per district.  This is a poor and unfair decision.  The more ladies sent to State the more excitement it creates for the sport.

Stop Canterbury Council charging residents extortionate amounts for parking

Canterbury Council recently voted to raise Whitstable/Herne Bay & Canterbury parking permits over the next three years. By 2019, they have agreed a fee of £700 for a Residents Off Street Parking Permit. To get a permit, you must be a local resident and proved to be paying Council Tax.  New Permits are based on Flawed Research The Council based this fee on research that has proved to be flawed. The research was presented in the table which were described thus: “The following tables compare the current annual cost of Residents’ Off-Street Permits in Canterbury, Herne Bay & Whitstable with the current costs in other historic cities/regional towns and seaside towns.” However, a more thorough investigation of the figures given show that many of the far higher rates charged by Councils in other towns and cites does not refer to “Residents’ Off Street Permits” but to season tickets that can be purchased by anyone. This includes those who do not live nor pay Council Tax in that area. They are designed for those who commute to work. This table is flawed, and yet has been used as justification for the incredibly high permit price which does not take into account the fact that Residents are using these permits for private parking, rather than for work, and must be paying Council Tax. Council has a duty to ensure that Research that informs Policy Decisions is credible As the table has proved to be flawed, the Council must review these charges, and make a fairer comparison in order to arrive at a charge which is equitable with other “Residents Off Street Parking” not Season tickets. Unlike Season tickets, which are enable those in employment to park closer to work, CCC Residents Permits are used by a wider demographic simply to enable them to have their car parked within reasonable walking distance to their homes. This includes the elderly, who can’t necessarily find £700 for a Residents Permit. I moved to central Whitstable in 2014 and paid an annual fee of £115 for parking.  In 2015 this rose to £250 and this year it is £350 and I have now been told this will rise to £500 in 2018 and £700 in 2019.  I work in the area and have a young family and the fact that these costs are rising at such a rate, makes it impossible for me to budget my already stretched income. I realise that parking is a problem in Whitstable and surrounds and solutions need to be found, but I do not understand how charging outrageous prices with resolve this. I am inviting the Councillors to: -      Interrogate the research presented to them, and confirm if the information is in fact for Season Tickets rather than Residents Permits -      If the research is incorrect, then commission new research to make a true comparison -      Review the parking permit prices in light of this new research -       Explain how the increased revenue will benefit those who has raised it -      Detail other activities done to reduce the parking in Whitstable and surrounds, such as car share schemes or park and ride Leader of the Council must ensure the integrity of the Council’s Activities I am also calling on the Leader of the Council to state an opinion on whether he is happy that this policy has been properly researched, and if not, what steps can be taken to ensure all research that informs policy is properly interrogated. Raising Council funds Equitably Councillor Brian Barker said on a public forum: “think about which services you like to see cut to produce enough income to do the things the Council currently do, bearing in mind these would affect everyone, including car owners and the less fortunate in our community.” While it is true that Councils are struggling to balance the books, targeting a small number of Residents (who have no parking alternatives available to them) with a parking fee based on factually wrong research is not the best way to raise funds for the Council as a whole.
