Thanksgiving Day is horrible.
When I started here we were closed that day and were able to enjoy the day with went by and we opened at midnight on Thanksgiving Day. Now Macy's is opening at 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day. The fact that a company which strives to be so supportive of family values and a proponent of and not open its stores on Thanksgiving Day. Macy's set the standard for a fair and respectfulRead more

Petition to The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board
Every year for Thanksgiving, the Wall Street Journal features a passage from a pilgrim detailing Thanksgiving. But even more than this disturbing lack of gratitude is the notion that there were no Journal to end this racist insult. Such an action would be an appropriate commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Thanksgiving in the United States.Read more
A Thanksgiving turkey emoji has been proposed to Unicode, the non-profit organization that oversees talk (and text) about turkey more than anyone — echo the feelings of Thanksgiving-loving folks jack-o-lanterns for Halloween; and so much more.
But Thanksgiving, the most-celebrated holiday in emoji,” you might say. And yes, there is. But it’s not a delicious Thanksgiving turkey. So—just like Christmas got a Christmas tree, even though there was already a perfectly good pine tree—ThanksgivingRead more
As students we spend most of our time in school, which may be boring but in the long run it benefits us. We are thankful for this, as much as it may seem we don’t appreciate it. However, when several districts like Douglas County get the entire week off it seems silly for Cherry Creek Schools to not get the entire week off. I understand the difference in schedules and required amount of school days, however many students, even teachers want to spend more time with their families and show how thankful they truly are, but with school during Monday and Tuesday, many have limited time with loved ones. Even if we are unable to get the entire week off, not requiring school on Tuesday could be beneficial to students and staff.Read more

The air quality is only getting worse, especially in the heart of downtown San Jose where circulation is poor. The air quality index score is above 170 which is deemed unhealthy and is borderline very unhealthy (200+).
Update 11/18 11:05 PM: The SJSU administration has decided to resume classes on Monday and Tuesday even though as this update is being written the air quality index score is 152 in San Jose. It's important to note that when the administration emailed students to shut down the campus on 11/14 at approximately 11:04 PM the air quality index score was 164. Clearly, there has been no significant improvement since then and therefore the administration is betting on the future.
Update 11/19 11:30 AM: As expected the air quality index score is 157 and still unhealthy for many students. Read more

Petition to Brian Cornell, Walmart CEO, Doug McMillon, Macy's CEO, Jeffrey Gennette, Target CEO, Brian Cornell
Thanksgiving is one of America’s most cherished family holidays -- a day to spend with friends and loved ones.
But, in pursuit of the almighty dollar, some retailers open their stores on Thanksgiving Thanksgiving.
As a patriotic American, I am against “Black Friday Creep,” and believe retail workers at people over profits and refuse to open their doors on Thanksgiving Day and instead let employees have employees the day off on Thanksgiving. Black Friday should start on Friday.
