The Star Wars Expanded Universe, consisting of Books, Tabletop Games, Comics, and Video Games, has existed for over 30 years and has been what sets this franchise apart from other Science Fiction franchises. disregarding it would be akin to disregarding Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto to give Mickey Mouse more screen-time. More importantly, its bad for business. for the years between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, the Expanded Universe was THE main source of income for Lucas Licencing LLC., and while certain aspects of the Expanded Universe have lost some value in recent years, the EU as a whole has plenty of life and money-making potential in it. with the disregarding of the Expanded Universe, Post-Return of the Jedi, as non-canon, it becomes pointless to buy any of the books, or the games, or anything else. Additionally, you have created a situation where you risk losing Revenues from the Sequel Trilogy with the alienation of the Long-term fans, some of whom have been fans for over thirty years. that is to say nothing of the long term effects of this business move, which to put it mildly, is utterly stupid.
